Now Day 3
All of my non-dream friends have been extremely supportive of my sobriety. When I have using dreams they are either judgmental or drink with me. It was weird to have a dream where someone just told me no.
Free, be proud. You could've gone off on a long binge & never made your way back here. This proves SR works, and you are very self-aware, so your recovery will work. You needed to come here and tell us, because you've invested so much of yourself here, & you respect us. I appreciate that. Your posts have helped many of us, too. Reading about this lesson you've learned reminds me of the last time I almost did the same thing at a family gathering. It was a funeral last Feb. & I met my husband's family for the first time. Every single one of them were drinking at the hotel bar before the funeral - nice, happy, people & all of them normies - who could actually have just one or two nice, civilized drinks. I had a split second decision to make (as you did) but for some reason I heard myself saying, "I'll just have a diet cola". WHAT?! I think I was able to resist because I'm way older, and having had my life torn apart by drinking, I was a little more terrified. Now you have this traumatic experience under your belt, there's no stopping you. Sending love.
