Doctor Update
I got to see a Cardiologist today (despite the fact that I'm a self-payer)!
I go for an echocardiogram next week...and depending upon how that goes...I may get an exercise stress test done as well.
That's exactly what I wanted to have done so I know where I stand...I didn't have to ask...he told me that this is the course of action to take right now.
I was given a prescription for my slightly high (
) blood pressure.
He even congratulated me on my 53 days sober today! I like him...he's easy to talk to.
I have to stay sober and work on drastically improving my diet (it's complete crap!) I think the diet part is going to be harder than the sober part.
Gee....no smoking...no drinking....no bad foods.........what's left?
I don't have any right to complain, though. My sorry butt is getting another chance.

That is great Bam. We were, at least I was, waiting to see how that went. I was thinking about you before I went to the gym this morning.

I'm so glad you found a dr. you like, who is finally doing what you've wanted done, all along. This is what they are SUPPOSED to do...the (what they call) non-invasive tests first, that will give them a good indicator of what is going on with your heart.
BTW, I hear ya on "what's left" when you take out all the "fun stuff"....just remember...a good diet doesn't mean you can't have the occasional treat...you just have to eat MORE good-for-you food and keep the treats to "occasional". I'm no one to talk...I KNOW what a good diet is, but I don't follow one and my energy sucks because of it.

hey bam...glad to hear you are at least getting the drs to listen and do the testing...i pray everything comes out well for you...but the way i feel is at least you will know what's going on and be able deal with it..i don't do so well with the great unknown..big hugs and good luck with everything!!

I was told by my primary care physician that many specialists do not take on self-pay patients.
