dedubyas volcano

i am getting a small grip on this- but i know its gonna blow like a volcano. so i want to stop completely- thats my wall- thinking i need to go to the counselor and get help. making major progress in my consumption (not really- i cut in half- which is nothing to compliment). i am having withdrawals even with the cut in half. i think i need to start to want withdrawals. i get better after i go through it. it inspires me so much to see i am not the only one. you guys rock. keep it up and be strong. some really real stuff here and i read most of the day- great site.

Where?

How's it? I'm glad you found us and welcome! I didn't catch the beginning of your story... What brought you here? My right shift key doesn't work so there may be some errors...

no not yet- i am down to 6 a day- from 9-10 range. going to get to 3 tomorrow, and stop friday. i know its dangerous- but i exercise a lot and it is going to be part of my 3-4 day plan. ETA is this weekend....which is when i normally drink the ocean dry. so we'll see. i know the home detox is dangerous- thanks man. i just have to knock this out myself, and then start counseling is the plan. doc isnt out of the question though - i know i am going to freak out when i stop completely. but i have kicked other crap before so think i can handle. i just need to keep enjoying this slight withdrawal i am having each day with my reduction- i know that is a sign of repair- at least that is how i am looking at it. i have been doing this crap for 25 years (alcohol) so time to reprogram.
later

well i stumbled onto the site around december. when i normally get in my worse shape. my story= wow. i am 47, played shows in a relatively successful rock band out of LA for around 15 yrs, went around the world, (started around 20ish), did all the crap related...stopped the other stuff but kept drinking. still do but much less- I dont play now- have a good job-work a lot, and drink a lot. I just know its not right, and i would like to see my grandkids in a state of mind that they would appreciate. kind of a short version...........here i am. thanks for caring.

Hey Dub, those grandkids are pretty special.

Mine have only known me in sobriety and I'm so grateful for that!

Welcome back Ded. as you already know there is plenty of support here.
Looks like you got things planned pretty well.
Good luck and keep the exercise up as it will surely help.
