And, personally, I don't read any excuses being made or given in this thread. No one is telling Suzette that it is ok to be treated like crap by her daughter. Just because teenagers throw disrespect at us parents, doesn't mean we take it or encourage others to accept it as tolerable behavior.
All teenagers ( and kids in general) try on a lot of different attitudes in their growing up. Parents expect it, but we don't accept whatever they decide to pull.
I think all the commiserating shows that the behavior is normal, and that no one here should feel bad if their teen decides to try mouthing off. If the parent chooses to let it continue, then that's another story.
