The only potential question that worries me is "why did you leave your last (actually next to last) coaching job?"

The answer is that I was replaced because I was in jail for a DUI and couldn't post bail.

that is why I think the job is a great fit for you! Rec gym and b-day parties is a huge difference. I understand the passion you have for gymnastics, I live with it everyday with my daughter so I say don't let it go!

Bragging father alert: my daughter is a two time balance beam state champion in Cali.

I agree, Paul. There's nothing to disclose at this point in time.

Relax and go for it.

Hugs.

I'm really nervous... as soon as my gf leaves for work, I'm gonna shower and shave. Then I have an hour drive...

Like some have said, honesty when asked about anything that pertains to what you are talking about. Imo, I don't see how you are obligated to tell them anything off the bat.

Good Luck! Pulling for you.

Don't worry about it DK. There will be other jobs. Just go through the interview again in your mind and see where you messed up. Maybe try getting a book on interview questions and practice your answers so you knpw exactly what you are going to say beforehand. Good luck on the job front, if you want a job you can get one and you already know that. you are very bright.

DK, you'll get there. You are taking active steps to improve your life. Fub has some good suggestions.

For starters, I had the time confused, so was late... then the first question got me:

"Tell me about yourself..."

This is exactly the kind of question that you have to practice your answer for. Nake a list of your good traits and put them into a 1-2 minute answer.
A few more common questions are:
Why should I hire you?
What makes you qualified for this job?
What can you contribute to our company?
The ever dangerous why did you leave your last job?

If you are prepared for the questions you will be more relaxed and confident.

Always plan on showing up 15 minutes early and even if you have to wait the interviewer will get the impression you are punctual and eager to work.

Go to the library and get some books on the subject and always put your best foot forward. There is no room in the interview room for any negative thinking or thoughts. Try to put a positive spin on any nasty things on your resume.

Keep at it and you will get yourself a good job.

Seriously.. I've had better interviews when I was half baked. She would probably still hire me though. The real obstacle is that it takes an hour and fifteen minutes to get there and the shifts would only be a few hours. Livin' in the boonies really sucks...

Wow that is a long travel time for part time work. Keep at it and something better will come along.

I wouldn't worry about it either, DK. If it wasn't meant to be, it just wasn't. If it was, they'll call you.

I've had to hire people and twice the person I hired....I wish I would have hired the other one. Interviews are just tough.

If you are truly interested in it....can you start going to their gym every now and again, just so they can see what an awesome guy you really are?!

I took it really easy, but I'm still pretty sore. I used too much caffeine to help motivate myself to make the hour drive and consequently didn't sleep much last night. Plus, the only thing I ate yesterday was Doritos, lol...

That sounds promising - maybe they can offer more hours to make it worth your while.
