Hi Mrs.Murph,
I was 37 when I got pregnant. I too am an everyday drinker with a clean house and a job and food in the fridge. When I actually knew I was pregnant, the beer just didn't taste good anymore. Neither did the cigarettes. It was easy to stop for me. I nursed my beautiful baby boy for 3 months which also kept me sober and smoke free. (Actually the smoking was harder to give up than the beer). After you have a baby, you will not even have time to think about drinking. Nature has a beautiful way of taking care of little ones. (and drunks, so they say).
I think you have to quit for your baby, and for you, and I don't know in what order.
Right now, my son is 4 and I am back to my "functional" drinking. Having a problem with the term myself.
Good Luck to you and your husband. Trust me on one thing. Babies have a way of changing you. It is the greatest gift in the world. Don't throw it away.

Hi, if you possibly can get your drinking and smoking sorted out before you get pregnant. Pregnancy is a very emmotional time with huge changes in your hormonal levels so you do not want to be dealing with getting sober at the same time.
