I got the shakes
stay with it
Hi murphy
rough ride you have there. i bet you have been through the dts [delirious tremors] many times before. i can *hear it* in your posts. wish i could say its gonna get better before it gets worse but we all know that ain't so.
when that **** really starts over the next 12-72 hrs you remember why your doing all this. your doing this because you wanna live and those that love you don't want you dying. we are all pullin' for you murphy.
all i can say more now is i will never forget my own dts. remember to drink plenty of water. the price your paying now is worth the trip. all that stuff back then still keeps me sober day by day just like an old friend reminding me of what i left behind.

Yeah, withdrawal can be hell. Medical supervision, or at least someone there with you at all times is a good idea. I am trying to stay sober by remembering how horrible those first three days are after stopping drinking. So if I don't pick up the first one I won't have to withdraw from it.
All the best to you, and yes yes, drink lots of water.

Murphys, congratulations for seeing the light. This can be the last time you feel this horrible. It can all be uphill from now on. We'll be looking forward to joining you on your journey. Love, Joanie

Just to update:
I am still drinking, despite the fact I know it is totally stupid, I can't go to detox, I have to do this on my own, knowing the risks .. my wife doesn't know so I can't talk to her .. If I did it would end our marriage.
I really want to cut this **** out of my life.
Will try to report back soon.
(I am now half way through day 1 .. yet again!)
Just to add .. It's 90% about my wife and 10% about not wanting to die a truly horrific death from alcohol

It's so painfully obvious you love your wife very much. She is your reason - your guiding light...but would she really abandon you? Many people find they have the support needed with the ones they hold dearest to their heart. Maybe you owe it to her to be honest. Better for her to find out before you have uncontrollable symptoms than for her to find out when your in the middle of serious DTs and not knowing why. At least let her know. 3 days (at least) of detoxing in secret will be next to impossible.

OH MY GAWD!! If you read my first post that's all it is. It's been my journal and keeping it all in the same thread is the only way it could work the way it did. I also did some hour by hour...;-) It's pages long! Use it for part of your self-therapy!
Murphy, im on day two, day one is the equivelent of holding your breath underwater and tring to get through the day.
Just think one day a step easier, get a week behind you and you'll be crying with releif.
Good luck Murphy

Good luck to you, hang in there, you have the power within you to break free, reach out for help, get to AA, stay all day in meetings if you have to, use it to keep you focused! Keep posting,
Blessings and serenity to you

2.5 days clean (spent in bed reading, sweating and shaking! and taking vitamin B and drinking gallons of juice and water)
Using small amounts of valium to take the edge off.
Just threw all bottles out (after emptying them down the sink first)
Just had a banana!
