Finding it so so hard

The more I come on this website the more I want to become sober.
As some of you may not know, I have not recently taken the first step
to sobriety just yet.
I have been sober on and off for years but am currently still drinking.
I know giving it up is the best thing for me and I know where my priorities lie but I just cannot part with it.
I am also very reluctant to go to AA. I have been twice when I was 16 and I hated it and the stress of it all actually made me relapse.
I am not a very social person and being in situations where I am surrounded by strangers makes me extremely uncomfortable.
I have no idea where to go and what to do.

Hugs to you Brittany Marie,

I got sober with an online support group for women on msn...it is called "Women for Sobriety"....it is a positive, empowering, self help Program for women, founded by a woman over 35 years ago.

There are some wonderful programs out there, including AA, but each person must find what works best for them.

Google ~ women for sobriety msn.

Thanks Seren! I think I found it.
I guess I just feel a bit stupid for joining anything promoting sobriety when I'm not even sober yet.

I think all of our true confidence in social situations happens when we put down the drink. Drinks makes us all anxious and depressed. Social situations will get better once you've made the decision to stop and are well on the road to recovery.

Understand your still drinking but keep coming here and reading posts and I'm sure you will be inspired to quit soon.

Good luck Brittany Marie! x

You are putting a foot forward toward sobriety just by being here.

Slow process, but very redeeming.

Hopefully we will soon be welcoming you as a full-fledged person in recovery.

Well Brittany Marie. At least you're thinking about doing something. That's a start anyway. And you come to a great site that is filled withlove and compassion. Do you have any questions about why you should quit? Is your drinking causing you any problems with finances, relationships, work, etc? What about your health? Don't mean to be all personal, just don't know much about your situation.

Peace.

Thanks guys. I just hope the great desire comes sooner rather than later.

No I don't really have any questions as to why I should quit. I know that it's in my best interest to stop, it's just so hard after all these years to make the first step and know that I'm doing it for good.

When I am at my highest drinking peak, drinking effects all aspects of my life.
Right now, drinking is effecting my health the most.
I've posted a bit about this in the ladies section..
I have had alot of health problems lately and we thought I might have a stomach ulcer.
I have been through 2 medical procedures so far and the tests have shown nothing significant so I'm up for an ultrasound tomorrow and most probably a cat scan next week..

Thanks for sharing. Both of those procedures will certainly reveal any issues. Best wishes to you.

I'm doing better today. In an unusually good mood so I suppose that's something.
I got my ultrasound done this morning..nothing showed up. So I will most likely be getting my cat scan in the next couple of weeks. Damnit. Not looking forward to yet another procedure being done. I just wanna get this all over and done with so I can get better again.

How are you doing Seren?
