Im new!
Im new!
Hi everyone. Brand new here. I just started reading and already... im feeling a little less terrified about walking in the door t'nite and NOT having a drink.
Im 32, married mom to 3 daughters. Work for a very busy law firm and we do bankruptcies. With the financial state most people are in right now, well, work is insane.
Ive used this excuse (along with my kids, lol) to "relax" after work for the past 5 years now.
I have to change. Im sick of my excuses, im sick of waking up feeling like crap, im sick of failing at my attempts to "cut back" im just sick of it all. Alcohol has just become nothing more than a crutch, ritual and a daily habit.
I will be here alot.
Tracy

Glad you are here and let us know how you are doing. Let's us know if we can help in any way also..

Welcome, Tracey. Thanks for sharing, keep coming back! Do you have any plans for your recovery program yet? Is AA, or NA going to be part of your solution? I can highly recommend it, I get my 60-day tag tomorrow in NA! I'm glad you're with us!

Thank so much for the warm welcome. As of right now, no plans in mind. Just taking it one day at a time. I have no earthly idea how I will make it through my first weekend without drinking. Guess I will cross that bridge when I get there!
Thanks again!

Hi Tracy, welcome back to SR, I hope you stick around and follow a plan for your recovery.
I'm a single father to two pre-teens. A sober life in AA has blessed me with the ability to be the parent my children deserve to have. We have an amazing life together, I talk about it often on SR.
A few years ago I also reached the point where alcohol stopped working for me and I had to find something better to stay sober. Working and practicing the a 12-Step program was the only thing that worked for me. I hope you'll discover what you need.

I just wanted to say that I related very much to your post. I too have three children and a very demanding job and I have 'earned' or 'deserved' my beers to relax/unwind for quite awhile now. I began to realize that my kids deserve better - even I deserve better. The scary thing is when I tried to control it or cut back - seems like the more I tried to cut back, the more I drank! I felt the control slipping through my fingers and it scares me.
Anyway, good luck! BTW: I too first joined in Sep 2004! I've been in and out of sobrity since that time. This time I'm hoping to make it work - forever! But as they say - one day at a time.
