Hello

I found this board when I was looking for help.

I am the wife of an alcoholic, together we have 4 kids. We're going through a hard time. I came looking for insight and information. Anything that may help.

This is a good place to be, for sure. Like Rella mentioned, the Friends and Family Forum might be helpful too. As the alcoholic in the family, I found that forum helpful when I first got sober. It helped me begin to understand what my loved one's had and were going through themselves. I had a really hard time seeing any of that. I was so focued on trying to stay sober.

Is your spouse still drinking? It kind of sounds like he is. Does he want to stop?

THis is a good place to go to get advice and support. I depend heavily on it. I've found a lot of help here and it's still helping me, helping to keep me sober. Do check out the friends and family of alcoholics forum. Lots of people there in your situation. They may have some valuable insight for you. Hang in there.

Welcome to SR. This is a great and safe place for support and information.

Check out the friends and family forums, they are very supportive as well.

Do you have any general or specific questions? All I can think of is does your husband recognize that he has a problem?

Thanks for your post, I look forward to hearing more from you!

Thats ok TV...dont let his drinking stop you from getting the recovery you need.
I like to think that in many ways, the alcoholic is addicted to alcohol...and I was addicted to the alcoholic. I used to let his moods, his drinking, his promises....run my life.
From the time I got up, until the time I went to bed I was focussed on him.
I hope you will begin the journey of taking care of yourself.
((hugs)) to you.

Hi TV:
I am new to this site also, and I have already found a lot of inspiration and help here in a very short period of time.
I attend both AA and Al-Anon, because I am both and alcoholic and have co-dependency issues... Just keep talking about it and try not to bottle up all those feelings...it really does help..
