Yep.

AA, doctors, pills all CAN help. They are just that...a help.

I stopped when the pain of drinking got worse than the pain of quitting.

I was posting here DRUNK off my ass for 6 months before it happened.

I was trying HARD for those 6 months, just like you are Need4. KEEP trying and it will happen for you but you might have to go through a lot more pain first, like I did.
I hope not.

BTW, I didnt take offence either, we are all in this together.:ghug3

"but I am looking for a medical solution to make things easier for me.

Ah hah! In my opinion, this is the heart of your problem.

Try again.

Personally, I believe that looking for a solution in a pill is not the way to go either. And, I am not an AA person, but this forum is about recovery, any kind of recovery, and you can always find lots of support here.

Yup. That's exactly what kept me drinking for so long.

AA didn't work for me either for 15 years. And then it did. When I was ready to quit fighting.

The 'what works' thing sure attracts a lot of attention.

I had 20 years clean, gave up smoking, did Karate, ran a business, got a universtity degree, met the woman who has given me the most love I have ever experienced, My Daughter was born, travelled round the world and then because I had not dealt with all the issues picked up and 11 years past. When I came here I was an NA fanatic, but now looking back on my recovery including those 20 years I realise that its what works for me/us is whats important. These days for me its the realisation that I need the support of other addicts in recovery I get that here and elsewhere.

So lets be here for Need4, truth yes. What will work for them? I think Need4 will find the way as we all did bit by bit.
