Thumbs up Morning guys-New Day One

Hi all

Thats it I am gonna need a wee bit of support and encouragement but today is my new DAY 1. I am going to do this. Please can you all be behind me on this one, any tips advice etc most welcome. did over 5 weeks at my 1st ever attempt and this time I am GONNA do this.

My motivation has come from within I need to change before I destroy everything good I have. And guess what? I want to change too. I want to be able to deal with things that life throws at me with a clear and rattional head - any advice at all on coping mechanisms would be apprecaited. This is not a good time of year and I was going to wait but who knows what will happen next week . So thats it I have told you all now. Off to have a Strawberry smoothie for breakfast.

Have a good Sunday.

hey CW -

my advice is what my advice always is - Alcoholics Anonymous.

works for me!

good for you with the committment, too, though. it's the wanting to change part i liked reading the most.
why not give it a try?

Congrats on your new day one! I've been there, we all have, but I am glad to see you are back. For me, when I start to have a craving or those old thoughts come back, I try to go to meetings, just relax and tell myself that the pain I am in now for not having the drugs is NOTHING compared to what I would be in if I used again. Good luck!

Hi CyberWolf, Well done you for having the determination not to allow this disease to win.
It's early days for me(today is my day 10 ).
My advice would be to keep focuced on the bigger picture whenever you're feeling weak. On Thursday I soooo wanted to drink. But I just decided not to leave the house! I told myself that this evening would be pass and I'd feel good tomorrow that I'd been strong enough to resist that urge.
It feels good to feel strong.
I won't quit now, cos I want to be strong. I want to be a whole person.
Also I find that SR is a great place to come to. Actually I think I'm developing an internet addiction in general. But hey, I'm ok with that, for now.

Hi CW,

Looks like we are both trying to kick this to the kerb...I don't have any advice cause I'm stuck on day one at the moment and haven't quite worked out how to get past it
...but u sound very determined, keep posting here if it helps.

Hope u enjoyed the strawberry smoothie...sounds yummy.

I'm thinking of you. If everyone works together (as SR does) I think the chances are much higher to get clean...

Me. xx

Cyberwolf,

Every day is day one, no matter how long someone stays sober.

The first thing is if your life is a train wreck it will take some time to clear the wreckage just to clear the track. That's what you have to do just to start from ground zero. You did not get here over night, and you will not get out of it over night. That takes patience.

The single most effective thing i have found in fighting cravings is to eat well, and keep a full stomach as often as possible. If you were/are physicaly addicted to alcohol, there has also been a severe nutrition disturbance because alcohol has turned into a feul source for your body, and keeping well fed--a balanced diet-- will help you a lot in fighting those cravings.

Well so far so good..... 6pm and all ok......last drink was only 10.30 last night but I gotta start somewhere right????

I have had breakfast lunch and am away to cook tea. Had a sleep this afternoon and read a book aswell. Tonight will be weird, have kind of got used to my glass/bottle of wine again - after only a week says it all really!!!!, but got my apple and mango juice and the tv. Hope that there is not as much anxiety this time but who knows.....Have felt a bit yucky at times today but this too will pass!!!!

How are you doing TKK? Thinking of you

Anyway this is just a quick post while the oven heats for tea!

Thank you for your ideas and support. I have vitamin B complex, milk thistle, and magnesium, and I seem to be quite addicted to strawberries and melon just now, can't get into blueberries though!!

Will be back soon as hope to post a lot wether I feel good or bad, to get some encouragement and a good kick up the bum if I need it

Hope you doing ok too TKK??

I am away to head to bed with a cup of hot chocolate and a book I might watch a bit of 28 days later but think it might be a bit scary for my liking!!!

Feel pretty wshed out but had a good tea, so that has to be a start 3 meals today and lots of milk and lots of juice. Whats left of the carton coming through to the bedroom though .

Away to cuddle up with the dog and cat. Hope you guys are all doing ok

Red face I'm right there with you

Hi CW & TKK, I am on day 2 and I know how it feels, I am keeping my head up today, but suffering some pretty bad detox symptoms, and feeling guilty. I'm not drinking though today, and that's one huge thing I have to be happy about. I know you can do it, I did it for a year once before, and I was so much happier and fuller in that time. Let's try this together, it helps to have comrades. Count me in.
