I am young (25) and I am successful in many areas of my life-education, job, etc. However, I still suffer from anxiety and depression, and I drink quite heavily. Today is my first day that I will be sober. It's not that I even drink every day, but when I do it is a binge. So, I need to stop drinking permanently.
Hi dayone,
Welcome and I'm glad you found us.
It could be that the anxiety/depression lifts once you stop drinking. Or, it could be that the drinking was to help medicate the anxiety and depression. That was my case so I needed to get that under control first.
Either way, there is lots of support and information here, so keep reading and posting.

welcome, dayone - it's nice to meet you. i have a 23 year old daughter in early recovery from alcohol/cocaine addiction. her depression is much easier to manage when she remains clean and sober.
you thinking about seeing a doctor or going to aa? my daughter goes to aa, and there are a lot of twenty somethings in aa.
keep posting and congrats on day one! blessings, k

Welcome dayone. There is a lot of good support and good people on this site. Please post often and let us know how you are doing.
Congrats on your decision. I sure wish I would have gotten the picture about my drinking when I was 25!
