I seen the most beautiful thing today!

I got a call at work last night at about 12:15 am from my pregnant cousin. Telling me her water broke and she is on her way to the hospital.
Well I did all my work as fast as possible and got my butt outta there and on the way to the hospital by 4am.When me and my grams walked in she was getting ready to push.. Took like 15 mins. She had it easy.
I have no kids and have never seen a baby born before.
I have no words to explain how I feel.
I just Thank God she is ok and the baby as well.
Also that I made it just in time.
And most of all...I was sober to be able to be a part of it.
Another awakening for me I guess. Beacuse I have been struggling since yesterday. I really have anxiety and an urge to pick up.
I am positive I wont. But I want to and I dont want to. I dont more than I do.
I will make it. I just gotta shake the feeling. It comes and goes.
But what I saw today. AMAZING!!!
That beautiful little face. I never relized how much I was missing when I was getting high. I never relized how much more I would be missing if I still was getting high.
I think God is talking to me guys.
This is my time for real. I am just at a loss for words.
Well..just wanted to share.
thank you all for being here for me. I love you all.

Congrats to your cousin and you on the new little one. Keep up the good work (stay sober) and that little one over the years will be much closer to you than if you're not. The cycles of wanting become less frequent and not as severe as time goes by. Keep identifying and give thanks for all of the good things and you won't want the bad things (drink/drugs) as often or as much. Keep climbing. The view just keeps getting better.

Hon keep up with the sobriety, it is well worth it, I have 6 kids 5 of which I was in the delivery room, it was beautiful, but sadly I was doing my thing at the time so my memory is not the clearest on those events, but I vividly remember the birth of one of my grandchildren after I got sober!!!! Yes thank you God, a relative that may never see me drink or drunk!!!

The urges get further apart with time, by working the steps I have had the urge/need to drink lifted, what a feeling of freedom from those years of enslavement to alcohol.

hey there myfriend. what a kewl nite for you. bet your tired hehe. congrats on the new baby. man i tell you when my son was born i was in the room with my x wife (sober) and i cant tell you the feeling when your new baby is born. my god i cryed so hard just knowing he was healthy and beautiful. when you first hear that cry omg. what a feeling. i didnt stay with my wife right after he was born. i told her i wanted to see him and watched threw the big glass window as they cleaned up my little man. i was taking pictures like a mad man. what was also great was my sister in law was the head nurse. so she helped with the delivery and she was the one cleaning him up while i watched. that was the proudest moment of my life. when i saw his chubby cheeks and herd his voice for the first time. i remember it like it was yesterday. now hes getting so big. i was sober while we tryed to have a baby. i didnt want my swimmers to be slow lol. she never drank or did drugs so i didnt have to worry about her. i was worried if i drank and smoked pot while trying to get pregnant i would make him slow or possable have mental problems. so i never touched a thing and im glad i did. didnt want to take any chances when it comes to a new baby. n e ways man im rambling on here. you just brought back good memorys today. thanks for that.. and congrats on staying sober. have a good friday...jason

Watching a baby being born is a true miracle - I was there when my sister had her last two. Sobriety brings more and more gifts. So glad you are here and that you shared this, Chiynita.

Thank you all for being there for me every step of the way.
I was struggling really bad today with alot of money in my possession and alot of free time.
I almost gave in.
But I didnt. Just kept myself as busy an occupied my mind the best way I could.
In a few hours I will be going to see my cousin and the baby again.
Today was rough yall. But I am making it. And I will make it the rest of this day.
Thank you all so much!!!

Oh and about my comment that I think God is talking to me. guiding me. Showing me a better way.
I know he has always been doing so.
I just wasnt listening.

Taz really hit on something here!

ASK YOURSELF - how many relatives can you name, whom you have wished at one time or another, "Oh Cripes - why did they have to see me like that?"

Here's a new chance! HERE'S A NEW LIFE - that does NOT have to see you "like that"!

Keep thinking about that...

ok?

Watching the birth of a baby is an amazing experience. I still remember the first birth I saw in nursing school. It is something I will never forget.

Good luck to you, and the new family member!
