Sobriety is giving back to me.
Sobriety is giving back to me.
On Thursday of this past week I was offered a promotion, basically an entire career change, and I accepted to interview for the job. If I was still in active addiction I would not have thought twice about rejecting this opportunity, if anything was going to come between me and my drug of choice (heroin), it had to go.
Sobriety has saved my life and it gives back to me everyday. Saved my relationship with my fiance, my career, and I now have respect for myself again.
I still feel rittled by fear and anxiety, but in group yesterday I got some great advice:
Anger and sadness are from yesterday (the past), fear and anxiety are about tomorrow (the future), keep it in the DAY and you can be calm and serene.
He told me to stop worrying about the fear of this new position, and just be happy and proud, that my boss has seen potential in me, he nows I can succeed in this new career.
Thank you SR for letting me share! My new favorite meeting is a 6AM saturday AA meeting. What a great way to start the day!
