HI everyone...Today is my first day here. I dont know where to start. I know I dont have to share my story completely. I can say after years of drinking and losing everything, from my brand new car to my kids...I am done. I am tired of losing everything in my life and hurting everyone around me. How do I start?

I have the attitude that I didn't lose everything, but I gave it all away every time I picked up a drink. When my marriage was over, home was gone, and I had joint custody of my kids, was when I realized that I was done too. Making the decision to stay sober is a start, working a program of recovery will open your eyes to a whole new life.
Glad you're here.

Welcome to SR, Foxy! Just admitting to yourself that you have a problem with alcohol, and you want to quit drinking...that is a start.
Personally, I would suggest you look up AA meetings in your area, and try to get to some. There will be others here who would have other ideas about staying sober. You can surf this website and check out other forums that appeal to you.
Above all, just try not to drink today...and, then try to make the same commitment each day after that...one day at a time. Good Luck...and keep posting.

Welcome to SR Foxy...
You start by admitting that you have a problem, and you have done that...
You than start each day by saying, today I am not going to pick up a drink. You don't know if your going to drink tomorrow, you don't worry about tomorrow. Just concentrate on today...
Tomorrow will turn into today, and today your not going to drink...
Best of luck to you...
One day at a time.
