Thanks Dee for the new thread. Thanks venuscat and Brandy.
Today was a mess. I suppose Christmas usually is. I'll be glad when things get back to normal. Bit lonely not having visitors today. Be glad to get my night meds.

I have to say thankfully it was really easy for me not to drink today and the build up was far worse than the actual reality. I wasn't tempted at all. I think a lot of that was because I was only with my brother and parents. My dad isn't a big drinker, never has been. He can make half a bottle of red last all evening, like most normal drinkers.Whereas I drink it like water and can put away two bottles, quite the contrast isn't it.My mum is a big drinker but controls it a bit more in her older age and my brother had a few beers.
I was a bit worried when the champagne was opened at midday, last year I was straight on the stuff. Thankfully my parents didn't offer me any, as they know I have stopped. Not that I would have drunk it, but it's an offer I didn't need or want. I took a 4 pack of 0% guiness over, I had two of those and that did the trick for me. Once we ate, I drank water and enjoyed some chocolates. Now back home enjoying a cup of tea in front of the TV. Major hurdle cleared considering I am only on day 22.
I hope everyone else has had a good day.

Counting down the minutes to night meds. I hope I have a good sleep. I seem to have nightmares most nights which is probably caused by one of my meds but who knows which one. I think lexapro is most likely but I need that one. Goodnight all.
Merry Christmas everyone!
The turkey is in the oven. Husband is waking up. Doggies are excited but they don’t know why.
Congrats Lixie on day 50.
Sending you a hug FF. I hope that you can get some good sleep.
Congrats Runner, DD and everyone else on their milestone.
Watching football too
Can’t wait to open gifts.

Merry Christmas one and all. I hope you had a peaceful day, despite the chaos in our lives due to alcohol. I had a lovely, very very quiet day, in spite of getting a migraine after going for a run this morning! Day 6 closed out. Xxx

FF- Christmas is always a strange day, no real routine, everyone is conditioned into thinking they should be have a jam packed social calendar for the day. Its a load of baloney.
Glad you got to speak to your mother and she made you feel better.
Hope you sleep well this evening. Thinking of you xx

May I jump in and invite you to some Zoom AA meetings?
I host a weekly meeting at 7 am PST Tuesdays, but it may be discontinued due to lack of participation. If you want to meet me and talk about recovery, stop in!
The Zoom meeting code is 908 478 2004 for all meetings, and times are Pacific Standard Time (GMT -8h).
Our local AA Group is also hosting a New Year's Eve "Alc-a-thon," from 6:30 pm, December 31, to 12:30 am, January 1, 2024. We'll have one-hour meetings alternating with a half-hour for celebration. These are "hybrid" meetings, with some of us in the room with a camera and the rest joining online.

Managed not to drink but had to deal with family all getting very drunk till 2am. It was slightly anoying but actually not as bad as I thought. There was the usual repeating everything over and over and getting all emotional and personal and deep about things but I dealt with it.
Annoyingly though I actually feel like I have a hangover due to this cold/flu thing I still have. Obviously not as bad as a hangover, but Im a bit disappointed I dont feel as fresh as a daisy on my 1st sober Christmas in 25 years!
Happy holidays to all!
