Class of October 2023 Support Thread Part One
You were very wise to do this ff. I really respect how hard you are working on your recovery—you have quite a few sober days now and hopefully you can keep building on your success. I find when I am feeling stress but not choosing to drink alcohol, my anxiety comes out in stress eating. Is that similar to why you drink the excess water?
This is looking like an awesome class so far! I am in with 94 days today.
Starting work orientation type stuff this week.... this is going to be quite the new adventure for me. Send positive thoughts. I am just going to try to stay out of my own head and be grateful for new things to learn and do.
David I attend AA meetings on zoom and get a lot out of them. Great job on your step one. It sounds like a really trying situation with your Mom. I am so glad you shared as it is great motivation for me to not follow her down that path. I won't so my son's and daughter never have to be in your shoes.
Good to see you Bobdrop!
So good to see all of you!

I'm in on the commitment for a sober October.
Great steps FF, in telling the nurses about the water. My thoughts are with you.
Thanks Citrus, you're spot on. I think it was her situation that snapped me into my moment of clarity in August. I don't want my sons in this situation. I want to remain in a position that I can keep them from being the last house on the lane. I know my mom can't help her physical situation, it comes to us all. But she shouldn't be destitute- she's just mismanaged her affairs because she was a drunk. I will keep that from being my story- and break the cycle.
This group is great, thanks to you all. I'm going to my favorite fellowship meeting this morning.

Hello all-
This is my pledge to have a sober October. Day 166.
Attended church service this morning, it was very helpful, the sermon/message was said as if it was directed at me-spooky, even. I won't get into it but I will say it was quite a moment, in a very good way. I know everyone has different views on religion which is great, but I see this as another way to cement my commitment to a more purposeful life without alcohol.
Yikes, that was a lot, haha.
Hi Bobdrop, and David--good to see you both here.
FF--I am so glad you told someone about your fluid intake, tbh I was very worried about you, I know you know this, but drinking that much water is so dangerous.
Hi Citrus-enjoy the new job, that's fantastic.
RAL--so glad you enjoyed your trip, and did it sober! Wonderful1
Peke--the fact that you went--you showed up for your friend and son-that's what matters. Good for you, and the confidence thing? I'm still waiting too, haha, but I think we all are like that in one way or the other. The main thing is you were a good friend and people appreciate that.
Hi Ove.
I'm sure I have missed people. Thanks again to Dee for another new thread :-)
