I think the answer may be in the word "familiar".
Even when we are in pain, we often choose to stay stuck because it is somehow safer.
The unfamiliar is an unknown, and even if it is something we long for, it is still scary.

Yes, I agree. Feeling safe in the familiar is part of it.
I released a lot today. I cried tons and apparently I am still grieving the loss of my marriage. It’s been 2 years and 2 months.

Father's day here. On the pathetic hope sons would visit, I scrubbed and cleaned.
Nope. I am not feeling sorry for myself , given I feel crap anyway....but I am saddened and then the guilt comes.
