Hi gang.
I can honestly say I was quite depressed this morning.
The increasing inflation and cost of living here is getting bad.
Petrol is costing more than I have ever seen it.
Sorry to rant, my sobriety is fine and I never think of drinking again.
Just venting.

It certainly is tough times Bob but I'm glad we're all sober...we might not make it otherwise...

We have lettuce here for $12 Bob ($8.50 USD)…it’s horrible. But remember how much we spent on alcohol each week for years.

Tomorrow is not promised, find the beauty in what you can today.

I had to make some tough decisions this week to cut off an old school friend due to finding out they had gambling issues. When I was reading about gambling addiction, I found out it can surface in recovering alcoholics/addicts. Starts off quite innocently (doesn’t it always)…but because our neural reward system has already had a dependency, the high of gambling can be intensified.

I personally had never seen this correlation before (I have seen it with food), but am grateful. It’s something for me to be mindful of as I’ve liked a bet on a horse a few times a year, but won’t do that without consideration now.

love to all xx

I shared with my 2 adult sons (who always message back/are friendly, but still a bit wary of f2f), I am over 2000 days sober...came reply from youngest 'I am proud of you Dad'. I replied 'thankyou that means more to me, coming from you, than anyone else, except your brother, I care for you both a great deal'.
Came the reply, 'I know'., from both sons...

Hi Snoozy!! xx hi everyone! xx

PJ, such great news. Very happy for you.

Emotional Safety seems to be in my Lesson Book this week. I guess that translates too to the ones who love us…at what point do they feel emotionally safe to let their guard down and finally believe sobriety is the only path we choose to commit to from now on. As a child of an alcoholic, I can attest that is indeed a hard wall to bring down.

Hello Everyone,

I hope this text finds you all prospering and enjoying life.
I think these are very strange times with strange twists and turns,
so I’m just staying in my lane and and trying to stay positive.
Perhaps this is just my reaction and maybe it’s because of my
advanced age, but boy I miss a less complicated world…

Family is doing fine…Grandaughters are now 19 and 17…time is flying.
Really don’t have any news, just wanted to stop by and say hello to you all.
All the best,
Croutie

Hiya Julyers.

Croutie how lovely to see you. Staying in your lane is a great idea. One of the first things I learnt when I came to SR.
The world is a bit hectic out there but I try and make my ‘world’ less complicated. I think it’s as I get older and being sober too.
Pleased your family is well, gosh your grandchildren are young adults now. How time flies.
Sending love and hugs Dear Croutie. xx

Have a good week Classmates.
