Guys, I’m getting dangerously close to abusing the pain meds that were prescribed for my back. After my surgery. The other night the pain was so bad that the doctor called me in a script for oxycodone. It really helped the pain. But today I took probably 6 pills throughout the day when the prescribed dosage is one every four hours. So I guess that’s 6 but I took them all pretty quick. So I’m going to start tapering off. I have to be really careful. I have such an addictive personality. Ugh, I hate it.

Good job on keeping an eye on yourself there BABM. It must be an extremely difficult circumstance. Not being a medical person or addiction specialist I naturally hesitate giving advice in such a circumstance. But here for moral support, for what it's worth. Cheering you on to find a way to manage what must be extreme pain whilst keeping your hard earned sobriety in tact ❤️.

I think you're right to be cautious BABM. Sounds like a huge red flag to me.

BABM, I'm worried about you. I personally can't be around anything like that and almost got addicted to a mild blend of Tramadol when I hurt my knee overseas. Those of us with addictive personalities have to be really careful and I am glad you called yourself out on it. My contractor friend got addicted to that same stuff when he broke his back after a fall, and he's not an addictive type. He almost ran his high end design-build business into the ground, and it took him years to get off it. He eventually started acupuncture and found relief.

Aleve if okay with surgeon-processed through kidneys— but can cause bleeding, so check, Tylenol if your liver is ok

3 + 2, 3 of mine, 2 of Dr Free’s. I’m a stepmom 🧙🏼‍♀️🤓

Glad you're tapering, BABM. Very good move.

Pline, thanks for checking in - congrats on 5 days! The early days are the hardest.

I just got back from a very pleasant 28 mile bike ride and made a kale and blueberry smoothie. Yummy! So refreshing. The thought never occurred to me to want an alcoholic drink of any sort. I just thought of it now when I logged on, lol.

Apparently my brother has Covid, I'm praying it it is Omicron, not the more virulent Delta variant. He is fully vaxxed and boosted, but I worry about him because he is a lifetime smoker, and not in the best of shape.

Wishing all a great week.

Prayers for your brother, Advbike 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Skied 24,000 + vertical today, (fell twice), then came home, cleaned condo and made smoothies. Nothing green in them 🤢🤮🤢🤮🤢🤮

Non fat Greek plain yogurt, chia seeds, cinnamon, and usually frozen berries. Today’s were wild blueberries. I freeze them, and use them as a meal replacement or as a snack.

Tonight, chicken Alfredo at a friends, and of course La Croix lime bubbly to go with…..bringing my own.

Sleep well, everyone!🤓❤️

Thanks Free, appreciate the prayers.. and nice smoothies! Mine normally look like that but I had no banana on hand and a bunch of kale, so I added some blueberries, soy milk and greek yogurt.. and here's what I got:

I have to tell you they were delicious (had two)..

All the best for your brother Adv.
This thing is a curse.
In this country it feels like the health management have just taken their hands off the wheel and said 'let it rip'. Contact tracing has been largely abandoned. Ppl are advised to use home Rapid Antigen Testing instead. Which would probably be fine with Omicron.....if you could get the tests anywhere. None available. Zilch. Nada.

So, like many others I'm just semi isolating. Try and limit the going out to little beyond restocking from supermarket.

Dunno whether isolating at home alone helps sober or not.
But isolating at home non-sober would be a disaster.

Smoothies look good. Not something I do, not having a blender. Got a soda stream recently....they're useful.

Things are rough for sure pline but we try and keep politics out of these threads.
Plenty of other places to vent.

Those smoothies look phenomenal.

Today I was able to stick to the plan of 4 pills. It kept the pain very manageable. Hopefully the pain will be tolerable enough to stick to my plan of three pills tomorrow.

I can’t wait to run the dogs again and go the gym and drive!

Been trying not to stress about what’s going on with my job. I applied and got an offer for a company I really want to work for but the background check keeps getting pushed out over and over again. And I do have a pretty colorful criminal record. All misdemeanors and the most recents were 3 years ago, but I’m starting to have a negative feeling about it. My current job is even at risk because I can’t get a security clearance because of my record. The current job is a gov security clearance though and the new job is simply a check so there still is hope.

The advice I always give people is to hand it over to God to let him decide since it’s out of our control so that’s what I keep trying to do.

Also, my oldest daughter has a unique disease called PANDAS and it’s really exacerbated by strep. Well we found out yesterday she has strep then today we found out she has COVID again. Gosh darn it.

So I asking for prayers for our family that we will make it through these struggles as best as possible.

Day 211 or no alcohol. God bless you all.

Said a prayer for you and your family, BABM, and especially your eldest daughter. I hope your neck gets better so you can do those things also, and be free of pain. And wishing you a great outcome on the job situation! You are right not to stress about it.

Really glad to have you back, Pline.

Zura, how are you doing?

Wishing all a great week ahead.

Good Morning All
Sending positive thoughts to those with family who are unwell.

Glad your turning things around with the pain meds BABM. Wishing you a speedy recovery from your surgery so you can get back to the things you like.

Pline, I hope the isolation is ok for you. It's wearing for some for sure.

Best wishes too everyone Ive missed. Having lots of intermittent power and internet issues here, probably post storm teething problems.

I'm doing quite well Advbike thanks, despite being back to day 1 again I'm feeling very positive and not too rough physically. Not going to slide any further backwards. Charging forwards towards my best life.
