One Year And Under Club Part 67
Thanks for sharing all the beautiful flowers Charon and willow. Brings so much joy.
so I am not home yet, still away on holidays with kids - visiting Gran on way back. But well away from the blowtorch part of my trip over Easter. Have been reflecting a bit on what I have learned about myself. I think the biggest one that is possibly helpful for people other than me is that once we have chosen whatever plan/program we adhere to to get sober, we are far far stronger than we know. The fear/anxiety around these early sobriety “challenges” is FAR bigger than the reality.
I know many people can’t help engaging in mental exercises around what would “make them” drink again. Eg death of loved one. But I have heard so many stories in the rooms now of people who did not pick up in extreme circumstances. Suicide of daughter, loss of entire family in car crash, end stage cancer diagnosis, etc. whatever my multiple layers of challenges were in a once-off event like the one I just attended , if they can stay sober then so can I. We can handle a lot more than we realise. Sober warriors. 💪

Thanks for all the pretty pictures! I can’t seem to load pictures. Anybody have any pointers for me I’ve looked at the directions and can’t seem to figure it out. When I try to load a picture it says it’s failed. I did manage to load the one of my dog but since then it won’t work.
Yes the floral pictures are beautiful! Thanks Charon and Willow

Tanky, it's true that once we commit to not drinking, we absolutely find other ways of coping with what life throws at us. I lost my BIL suddenly in the first year of my sobriety and it felt good to be in the present for hubby as he tried to come to terms with his brothers death. Drinking never actually helps in these situations anyway, it just prevents us from processing our emotions.
