Here's to an AF day for all!
You got this my friend! In it to win it.

Awesome! I saw a great quote the other day - sober = the time when 'what shall I do today?' replaces 'what did I do last night?'. Love it

Made it thru Friday night

I made it thru Friday night w/o alcohol. It seemed easy, however I wasn't feeling all that great. High BP, but getting it under control.
We are going out to dinner this evening. That will be challenging. I plan on drinking club soda & lime/lemon. DH is not a big drinker, thank goodness. I will keep you all posted.

I decided that I want to be sober. That is the greatest gift that I could give to myself this holiday season. I have name the month of November, No-no November. No alcohol. Looking forward to chatting with all of you. Stay sober.
Travelbug- I don't mean to jump in from another group (I'm from May) but I was reading here and wanted to share something with you. I also have high blood pressure. I actually ended up in the hospital for it about two years ago. What I didn't know at the time and just discovered this year is that melatonin can increase BP in people that have high BP. I was taking lots of it and drinking lots when my BP was undiagnosed and sent me to the ER. But also, again this year when I wasn't drinking, I started taking it again and my BP went up. I called my pharmacist because I wasn't sure what was going on and found out that it can be the culprit. Just wanted to share what happened with me and wish you well on your sober journey. I've also found that drinking does absolutely nothing good and everything bad for my BP. Good luck to you.
Hope

Yeah it worth checking out if you live in a country where you can get melatonin without a script.

Talking

Well, I stayed sober! I am so proud of myself. I drank water the whole night. We had dinner at a Japaneese Steak house. Very festive. Other people had drinks and I did not. After we went to one other the friends house where all of them had drinks, not me. I was designated drink for my wonderful husband. He had several beers and I drove his wonderful hinny homes.

Good job staying sober travelbug, during your first "test."
I have this unsolicited advice for Novemberinos, when I faced my first unavoidable social occasion at a sports bar during the early stages of my recovery, I actually kept my smart phone open to SR and kept it on my lap the whole time in case I felt I was going to order a drink. Knowing that I could reach out to people here was a huge comfort and I made it through okay.

Apologies in advance for mentioning Christmas but... does anyone have any good suggestions for non-boozy flavoured creams that go well with mince pies? Christmas menus are being made and I want to make an early start on avoidance. I was leaning towards orange zest but could do with some inspiration.

Never heard of that in my part of Australia, Womble. Would plain cream or custard work?
