Different is good. Knowing yourself is even better in my books.
And then you get to do what works for you. s

just in case there is anyone here who is counting days and is reading, thinking maybe they’re doing it wrong that way, I counted days for the first 90 days or so.

It was motivating for me. I’d never been able to stay sober for long before, and a day count was a tangible reminder that this time was different.

I wasn’t worried about Relapse because I was saving my life.

I wasn’t caught up in breaking Day records or personal bests because I realised pretty quickly this had to be a new way of life, not a fad or something like a diet.

But, yeah, at least initially that day count helped me.

Everyone’s recovery is their own so things will be different for each of us.

To me, for now, counting is a measure of accountability. I put it on my calendar and it’s motivating for me. I also make notes about other things as well such as my blood pressure and pulse rate so I can remind myself what happens if I drink.

I get that Scott. I am like that as well. I like noting things on my calendar and checking my progress.

I agree everyone’s different and that’s a good thing. Counting the days for me motivates me especially when I’m around drinking and have major urges. I think about Day 1 being awful and that I don’t want to have that again.

it’s nice to celebrate small wins too. Can’t wait until I can start looking at it in months and years!

I am right there with you all as far as the counting goes. To me it is another milestone. I want to open the door and shout it out loud. I am 23 days sober!!!!!

Hi guys. Checking in with you for day 3.

Had a fairly easy day yesterday. Had a three hour walk in the morning, made some photographs, did some work and ate quite a lot. I'm already getting my appetite back at day 2.

Diego Armando Maradona, one of the greatest soccerplayers of all time, died yesterday. Even though he was merely a drug addict and had a complete bizarre life(style), those people are always an example of how I don't want to become. That it is a good thing to live a life relatively calm with not much hassle or whatsoever. But that doesn't tame the alcohol voice, right?

It's sad to see everyone can get caught by this. I promise to myself I won't drink today, and I hope you guys promise that to yourself too.

Have a good one!

I'm part of the counting gang, day 19. It just helps me going. I can see since when I have been strong and how much money I have already saved
And health... well RIP Maradona, however, I was kinda shocked to learn that "collectively, smoking, alcohol and illicit drug use kills 11.8 million people each year", info available here https://ourworldindata.org/drug-use
Not preaching, just sharing, I am in the same boat

I really believe that, with time and effort, the voice dies away, CSC.
I feel untroubled

Pretty boring day. My family is filled with drama at the moment. Sigh... Like always.

Looking forward to dinner though.

Some people have theirs in the afternoon and some in the evening. We usually do evening.

Eh, kinda. When the argument about a pie started I bailed. I don't wanna hear it lol...
