6:07 am in Kentucky. Didn’t drink again yesterday. Today’s plan is more of the same. No booze in the house. Gonna make some coffee and get ready for work. Have a great day everyone!

Checking in half-way through the week. My son is home from the Navy and I’m taking next week off to spend some time with him and the family. I hope you all have a great day. Stay strong and stay close!

[QUOTE=IcedVoVo;7396323
My car was on its last legs so I bought a new one. Not brand new but close.?it will last 10 years like the last one, probably. It was stressful but I got through it while grieving and stressed. It’s quite sharp compared to my old one and I wish I could take my mother for a drive. But I feel like she’s with me. My sobriety brings the things I need, without fail. Nothing fancy because I’m a regular person. It’s good enough to drive a distance now, and I hope I can meet sober people near and far. I love road trips.

I was sitting at work earlier trying to compose an email to someone I always have to walk on eggshells around when I received an email from my kids' school. My eldest daughter hadn't registered in class this morning. What?? I'd dropped her at school at 8.15am this morning and watched her walk in. Where was she?? I contacted the school and told them she should be there and then I started phoning my daughter's phone but it just went through to voice mail. And I told myself not to panic. Panic does not help any situation. Ever. I told myself to get back on with my work whilst I waited for the school to check she definitely wasn't there. It was probably just a mistake. So I tried to work but I found that I couldn't sit still anymore. I wanted to pace. It felt very important to pace. Then I sent a WhatsApp to my daughter asking where she was. And it was delivered to her phone but not read. Where was she?? Bunking off school is completely out of character for her. Then I started to really panic. She's 14 years old. I didn't even know where to start to look for her. Is there cctv at the school? When should I contact the police? Was she with friends? Had she gone off with someone older? Was she wandering around on her own? Why wasn't she at school? Was she unhappy? Depressed? Why couldn't she talk to me if she was so unhappy? Where was she? What should I do? Then I got a phone call from the school saying they'd found her sitting in her maths lesson, completely unaware that she hadn't been registered this morning. All they can assume is that the teacher hadn't heard her shout 'yes' when they'd called out her name at registration. So they'd told her to speak louder in future and that was the end of that. Panic over. Then I sat back down at my desk and got back to composing my email to the person I always have to walk on egg shells around. But suddenly I realised I didn't feel like walking on egg shells anymore so I wrote the email in my normal way and realised I don't much care about the response. May have aged me ten years but my little morning panic seems to have got everything into perspective...…… but now I can see that eggshells person has replied to my email and I'm a little too scared to read it!!! Wish me luck. Love to everyone, lots of cyber hugs for you VoVo, have a wonderful time with your son and family Crossyourheart and 24 more for me please xxx

Kenton, I found myself stressing as I read your post! I also have a 14 yo daughter who seems to go off the grid at times too, yet she's somehow always glued to her phone...glad she was where she was supposed to be.
