Bobbi, I meant to ask you this the other day, but it slipped my mind... what kind of music does Ken play?
Hi,
I’ll give you a hint: Their name is .... The Skinny Ties Band.
We met in 1986, married in 1988. ❤️❤️ You can find them on Facebook. Interestingly enough, there is another band in the U.K. with the same name. We’re here in Southern California. Ken’s favorite all time band is, of course, the Beatles! Huge Elvis Costello too!

Oh my goodness!! I just googled in a totally non stalker-like way 'Skinny Ties band'!! BarbieKen, they are incredible!!! Ken is awesome. I'm so proud of him and I don't even know him, so I can only imagine how you feel. I'm totally star struck. I am definitely at some point in my life going to watch them play. Absolutely awesome. And Ken, and you Barbieken have inspired me to get on with writing my latest book. Like the fabulousness that is Purps said, I have written two other books but please don't think I'm a proper writer. My first book got rejected by everyone. My second book got a little more interest but ultimately ended up getting rejected by everyone. I've written 65,000 words of my latest book so I'm almost finished but I'm fairly certain this one will get rejected too. Not sure whether that's why I'm delaying writing the ending. At the moment, there's hope. Once I finish it, send it out and it starts getting rejected - well, then I'll have to go through all the rejections again. And rejection always hurt. But....... When I think about Ken going after his dream and being so incredible up on that stage, well it makes me think that I can chase my dreams too. And even if this book does get rejected by everyone, well ... So what? I'll still have an incredible safety net to soften the blow. I'll still have my sobriety and my family and my home and my job and my Samaritans training and my friends (including all of you) and my ideas for my next book. Rejection can only damage me if there's no safety net. And when I was drinking, I thought alcohol was the safety net. But guess what? Alcohol loves rejection, pushes the safety net away and smiles as we crash towards the ground. Sobriety is the safety net. As long as that's there, we really should just be brave and go for it! That's what I'm going to do. Thank you Barbieken, Purps, Ken, the Skinny Ties band and all of you. 24 more for me please xxx
I think I'm doubling up here a little but congrats to all our recent milestoners
