Goodnight everyone- it's been a really hectic day without much time to do anything but go from one thing to another. This day last year I was wasted. I was at the end of a 3 day bender, which started as a relapse after about 4 months of sobriety. I remember I started drinking wine at around 10 am and ended up finding rum in a cabinet (we had just moved states and were staying with my parents) and ended the day drinking beer by afternoon. I was a disgusting mess. My mother came down and asked me why my lips were red (it was from the wine). By evening I was blasting music (hubby asked me to turn it down) and just couldn't stop drinking.

I hope to God that I never forget that day. That I never forget that incessant buzzing in my ear, telling me "just one more- you need one more." I would barely finish the last before going to the next. That out of control feeling of it just not being enough. The hiding of the empty beer bottles (there were so damn many.) And of course the fact that I was the only one drinking (and drunk) in the basement of my parent's house. My little guy was 2, so he won't remember it and my older son was in school for most it. But the shame still lingers, the regret still burns.

But it's over.
Those days are forever over, and for this I am filled with gratitude and love.
