Congrats to all milestoners (Soberleigh - 6 years - Wow! That is truly amazing)

610am in the UK - I have woken up nearly every single hour through the night - not sleeping great lately. I am on Day 20 and thought this would be settling down by now. Going to drink my coffee and go to work for a 10 hour shift.
I am in for another 24 hours because nothing is going to spoil my 3 week achievement.
Hope you all have a fabulous day X

Definitely seafood if you are in San Francisco. I love The Cliff House, it is a little expensive, but absolutely beautiful, and on the ocean.

How is it that an alcohol helpline can refuse service to people?

I'm beyond late checking in. I haven't been sleeping very well for over a week now, and I'm feeling the effects of insomnia.

On the plus side, I spent some time talking to a struggling alcoholic, who happens to be an old family friend. She's miserable drunk, but says she's miserable sober too. I told her I completely understood what that was like. She said that her dad says that AA is a cult and is brainwashing her; her brother makes fun of her for going to church. I did my best to share my experience, strength, and hope. As tough as recovery is (and it can certainly be tough), it is better than living in chaos. I don't know if it helped her, but I do know that it helped me - it reminded me of the past and what I don't want to go back to. I too am struggling with saying farewell to my father, but it's not worth going back to the prison of addiction; tonight's share with her reminded me of that.

Was this you or someone else?

I expect most helplines probably have a code of conduct, both for people calling and for people answering the calls, similar to what we do here.

You might want to make your own thread about it - it's a bit outside the parameters of this thread?
