24 Hour Recovery Connection Part 309
Jo, I can't imagine what you went through today - utterly terrifying. Thank goodness everyone is ok. So pleased it's over and hope your daughter and her friends aren't too traumatised. Yep... definitely puts things in perspective.... and to think I was complaining earlier when the daft dog stuck his head inside one of the pumpkins and started panicking and smashed my favourite lamp with his pumpkin head. What do lamps or things matter? People matter. As long as everyone's ok, I have nothing to complain about xxx dog keeps growling at the pumpkins now. It's quite funny actually xxxxx
What a day! At about 10am this morning my eldest daughter called me from school. She told me the school was on lockdown and they are all under the tables with the doors locked and the blinds closed and "I love you mum"
We knew nothing. Just a text from school confirming the lockdown following an "incident". Then the local newspaper started a live feed on the internet. From my little girl's school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A friend who was at work sent her husband over there to check out what was going on. Rumours of a gun started going around.
My daughter called me again not knowing anything but saying they think it's a hoax. I was in a bit of a numb daze at work. "surely this is nothing......." but not really knowing. We got 2 texts from the school during all of this. Just 2. It lasted nearly 2 hours. The police were there so I assumed it couldn't be a hoax but what had happened I had no idea.
It turns out that someone had been shooting the school with an air rifle which had broken windows and the protocol is to activate a full lockdown of the school. I was utterly relieved and grateful that it wasn't anything more serious.
Poor kids inside had no idea too and there were some girls in there still traumatised by Manchester. Bless them what a scary day.
So that's my gratitude wake up call. Nothing is more important than my 2 girls. Big hugs tonight! xxx
