Coursge - Late to the party here but I'm glad your son doesn't need surgery and is handling whatever the issue may be well. Are you zoning out over solitaire as a result of his leg, the upcoming conference or both? Whatever the reason, dust off those tools and do the next right thing.

Gilmer - Your dinner sounded divine. What a great experience for you and your friend to share! Have fun in the mountains this weekend.

Badge - This weekend sounds like it may be more stressful than fun? I had several of those situations when I was new to sobriety. the only person I can rely on to stay sober is myself, so I armed myself with as many tools as I could.

Axe, Soberleigh, Tom - I'm not going to drink either!

Have a great day!

Pretty good Gil. Getting the house clean, packed and organized took a lot of work. Keeping it clean is a lot of work too. I wouldn't say it was dirty or disorganized before, just relaxed. My husband and I like the way it looks, though, and have vowed to keep it up after we move to our new digs.

If I am sober I can do that!

Hi glee -- nice to see you here I keep trying w/that next right thing thing. I'm pulling it off but it doesn't feel right you know? I feel like I'm doing "fake it till you make it" all over again.

It's the accumulation of miscellaneous small stressors over time, plus that conference which I really & truly dread -- but I've made a good choice about it that I'll post about another time -- plus a sizeable dollop alcoholism and a dash of mental illness.

Like Gilmer said, how's the move going? Me nattering on about stress, and you're moving a household! You're an SR Superhero

I'm not going to drink, and I treasure my sobriety for all that it's given me so far, that I never even hoped for.

Hi tomls! How are you?

Welcome LifeIsPretty!

Life *is* pretty, isn't it? It's just attitude that makes it seem different. When I look through the right eyes, even the dog turd on the sidewalk is a rich shade of brown, and the trash on the sidewalk is dancing in the wind.

Because I want to see straight, I won't drink today.

Hi my loves.
I did not drink or use today. However I am practicing harm reduction, har har.
Kind of in a bit of a backslide but I am still sober and pluggin along.
Life has been an incredible rollercoaster. It's a ride, to be sure.
Glad to see you all alive and well. <3

Sometimes it feels very flat when I am putting one foot in front of the other. My own "sizable dollop of alcoholism and dash of mental illness" - I love the way you use words - leaves me questioning whether I'm doing it right. This is when I rely on the AA ideas that so long as I'm sober it was a successful day. Eventually when I hit my stride, I can look back and see why that was the right way to deal with the situation.

Some people may see it as a disadvantage to learn how to be mature in their 40's but I feel blessed to have the opportunity to learn to be patient and humble.

Good to see you here LifeIsPretty and Delizadee. <3

Badge - How did your weekend go?

Tom - What are you up to today?

Carlos - I hope you had a great time with your guests.

Gil - I hope the weekend in the mountains was restorative.

Hi Soberleigh!

I am having a fairly typical weekend, with a dash of moving stuff thrown in. Acrually because it's hockey state finals, we have fewer games than usual (only 1 rather than the usual 4 between the kids), and yesterday I relished in being able to take a couple hours to run errands, without any need to be as efficient as possible conducting them. I was able to stop and smell the flowers; well, make that stop and get an espresso drink from Starbucks, exchange one of the boys' Christmas presents, and call my mother. It was so nice to check things off my to do list.

I hope everyone's weekends are going well. No drinking for me.
