Checking in for 24 hours. Last night at my home group, one of the older gentlemen was sharing his past 7 days. Initially, he was strongly promoting his support for a certain President elect and that he didnt care about anyone else's opinion. It was a bit offensive to me especially when he wore a certain red cap. Suddenly at the end, he confessed he had been drinking all the time he was attending the meetings. He burst into tears and sobbed that he had lied and failed all of us. He did not believe he deserved to be at the meeting. At that moment, all feelings of irritation melted away and I, as with everyone else in the room, immediately consoled him and strongly urged him to stay. Which he did. How compassion and loving kindness overcomes all differences when we meet a fellow suffering being !
