Class of March 2016 Part 18
Yes Casey, sadly I have had a DUI (DWI). That's why I got sober the first time several years and stayed alcohol free for several years. I know it's in my future if I drink again! :-( I've been close twice since my relapse.
Ladybug, what the heck is a walking taco? Tacos aren't supposed to have legs. Silly Pennsylvanians, you're doing it all wrong.
Got an invite to out to eat dinner before the meeting with some AA folks, so I did that. Mexican food. No walking tacos. Dinner was nice. It was five other men, with sobriety ranging from seven years to five days. Lot of good conversation. Meeting was just OK, but it was a speaker meeting and I've expressed my feelings about those before. Like most speakers, this one spent too much time on the drunk part and not enough on the solution. In my opinion, of course. Still good to get out of my head and see upwards of 80 people in a room together who drink just like me but are staying sober today just like me.
Going to put on some television now and try to get sleepy. I haven't had any caffeine all day so I'm hoping that helps me crash at a reasonable hour. It's back to work tomorrow after this unplanned day off.
Thanks to all of you for keeping me sober one more day. This really is an amazing group. I'm glad so many keep coming back. Don't quit trying 10 minutes before the miracle happens! If I can quit drinking then anyone can.
Goodnight everyone. Scratch The Beast's belly for me, immri! And wake up Mish while you're at it.

Yeah, I still drank and drove every now and then after mine in 2004. Sheer insanity. Don't know what the laws are where you're from, but the second one here in Texas is crazy expensive (though the first certainly wasn't cheap) and will probably result in some penitentiary time.
Ok guys, I'll leave you all alone now. Sorry for all the posts. I have to do this from my phone so it's a pain in the rear!
Another sober day in the books! I also got my workout in, got the bills paid, got carry out and watched a movie with my oldest son. Have you guys seen the movie "Creed"? It's excellent!!!

Hey all, just checking in. I’ve been taking a break to get my head and body straight though I’m keeping up. I’m still struggling to keep this going. Starts and stops. I had intense back pain last week and still have some twinges so dulled the pain rather than dealt with it properly. Still, I have returned to a little bit more positive thinking after backsliding recently. Going back to work on the plan this weekend after the next installment of the dental apocalypse tomorrow morning.
Fabela, it’s so good to see you back. I’m sorry that you’re feeling out of sorts but please keep coming back and taking care of yourself. Awesome job saying no to the beer!
Thank you for the kind message to all ending part 17 and starting part 18, Bobbie. I’m sorry about your friend.
Keep pushing, Kiki. It’s not your fault! I moved in and out of various groups at your son’s age as well. My closest friends one week were my fiercest enemies the next, then we were good again a month or two later. Adolescence is weird like that. I also think the karate or something similar is a good idea. A little extra self-confidence never hurts!
Sam, it took a lot of courage to go to the ER the other day and you sounded so much better just a few hours later. Congrats on your sober time. Sorry to hear about your daughter’s prom “date” but as a guy I had a similar thing. To be fair though, I realized what I was dealing with ahead of time, called it off and never attended a prom. Hope she’s laughed him off, as she should.
Well done, bbg!
clearlyheaded, I feel you on the arms, or shoulders in my case. I may have mentioned it before, but I tore the labrum in my left shoulder many years ago. It acts up occasionally but I’ve opted to forgo surgery until it’s absolutely necessary. The periodic, though mercifully brief, separations (subluxations for the medically inclined) are unpleasant though. Glad your PT is helping. Congrats on the interviews.
Spacegoat, Lillian, Purp, ladyboo, Mish, Kayak, ladybug, Missy, MITA, Applekat, immri, Pelagic and anyone I’ve missed, be well. You all mean more to me than you know.

Though I kinda wonder if we can beat our 31-page best with Dee on break. The poor May 16 class still hasn't been graduated to this forum and it's the end of the third of June now. Oh well, none of my business. I just like things to be nice and organized, as long as I'm not the one doing said organizing. And I miss Dee.
