Hi all!
Day 4 is always the hardest for me. Yesterday evening found me very cranky. It amazes me that I can have 20 days off then just 2 days on puts me back in anxiety land.
Learning lessons.
Have a wonderful day all.

I was curious as to how long before I can be comfortable without the cravings. There's not much research around but I found this,
Five Years Is Magic Number for Recovering Alcoholics

What's 5 years after 35 years of drinking ... still a big ask!

I'd like to be here in 2020 and say "I'm still good",

Week 3 for me today, Thanks guys couldn't have done it without youse.

Congrats on 3 weeks! That's awesome!

Oh I would love to be here too in 2020, saying 'lacing up the shoes, going to go train to run the marathon, and 5 years sober. Woo hoo!' That's really cool to dream of what would you like to be saying in 5 years from now. Thanks for the rabbit trail I just skittered down, James! That was fun!

Yes I am curious about the cravings too.

Hey JackDs--I totally get the hot feeling you described, whenever I contemplate drinking. I get it in my face though, all hot and prickly. I'm actually really grateful for this STOP sign my body sends me! It's like a physical representation of the overwhelming shame I will feel if I blow my sobriety (currently 10 days.)

Congrats on listening to your body. It knows what's good for you.

4 weeks for me (yeah) Actually the urges haven't been that bad. Some will come and it will feel a bit white knuckle but then pass on. Had a terrible night's sleep - I'll be happy when I'm home in my own bed tonight. I miss my kids and can't wait to see them.

Lovehooops - Happy BD to your girl.

Thanks for checking in everybody JS, Jojo (I love your avatar by the way), ting - hang in there, Unfrozen - which I end up thinking of the Disney "Frozen" because of my girls and in my head goes "Let it go, Let it go", nice to see you again TigerLili. Blond - nice to see you around. Tang - check in again when you can and where are you Robinson?

And just a little observation: I'm drinking crazy amounts of water. Last night 2L of sparkling water. I don't know if I'm just used to drinking something so now I replace it with water but I never remember drinking this much H2O.

Stay sober eveyone off to the airport - I'll check in later US time.

Teebee, congrats on 4 weeks! That is so awesome! And even more impressive that you kept it up while traveling.

I know what you mean about drinking tons of water--it's crazy how much liquid I'm guzzling these days! (And how often I have to pee!) Guess my body is trying to flush all the toxins that accumulated when I was chronically dehydrated...

My favorite drink right now is lemon-limeade and sparkling water. Not exactly a diet drink, but I'm cutting myself some slack for a few weeks. Any drink that doesn't contain alcohol is a good drink for me

Congrats on 90 days JT0626, and congrats to Teebee, Casey W, LiveLikeGold6, canguy and aistar on your milestones too

welcome and welcome back Unfrozen, sleepie and Cecilia

James for me the cravings got less and less in intensity and volume the longer I stayed sober. My last craving is such a distant memory for me now I cannot remember it

to anyone struggling I say reach out and get the support you need - this journey really is worth it...please don't lose heart

Day Twenty-Nine

Starting day twenty-nine now.

Yesterday was ok. Had to go in for that training at work yesterday morning. It went fairly quickly and then I headed back home. Only left the house once all day after that when I ran to the store to grab a few much-needed items. No thoughts of drinking which is good because usually they came on pretty strong when I was sick in the past.

My throat is still on fire this morning. I'm jumping in the shower in a few minutes and heading to a clinic since it doesn't look like this is going away. Hopefully it's something a round of antibiotics can knock right out.

Thanks again to everyone who posted on here in the last twenty-four hours. You helped keep me sober one more day.

Day 12 here. So far so good. My cold seems to have passed so I'm not sure if PAWS is waiting around the corner. No cold meds today so we will see. Regardless I'm going to hit it head on and push through. Actually got about 8 hrs sleep last night, which is funny because I feel more groggy than my usual 4.-5 hrs. Go figure. Be nice if the clouds would break and the sun come out to help lighten the day. But oh well, I'm rambling. Checking in and have a great day everyone.

hi there class, just checking in, day 27, still here, have had some cravings but just remind myself how crappy it always ends up making me feel, then the cravings go away. My skin looks better so that is a bonus, my stomach has less problems as well. Mom still hasn't started the chemo (cancelled it yesterday), she is scared, can't blame her i would be too.

How exciting! I've built some sites over the years, but I've only used SeaMonkey. Do you like WordPress?

I have a personal site that was really kept up for many years, then of course, it fell by the wayside during my dark days. I still have the name and hosting, and now you have inspired me to get it caught up again!

Thanks and congratulations!
