1964. I don’t remember it, but a lot of things happened then that permeated my childhood and shaped my experience of life. Before 1964, there was no Ford Mustang, no BLIMPIE , no Moog synthesizer. Queens, New York had neither the Unisphere nor the late great Shea Stadium. And Roald Dahl hadn’t yet written Charlie & The Chocolate Factory.
Amid all that style and invention, I have to give 1964 to The Beatles. It was the year of album releases for Introducing… The Beatles, Meet The Beatles!, and A Hard Day’s Night. It was the year of their first world tour and their first US appearances, including on The Ed Sullivan Show in February. They arrived at JFK airport in Queens:

and in August returned to perform at the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium, also in Queens:
So 1964 was a big year for The Beatles AND my favorite outer borough! Yay!
I wish you all an easy day's night!

Hi all. I have been "out" but I'm back. I am sad and sick but tomorrow will be a better day. I'm sorry to have let myself down, and I'm sorry to have compromised the feelings of the people that I love.
To my credit, during a power outage I drove into town, into the parking lot for the convenience store and talked myself out of buying wine. Then I drove all the way to the other side of town, into another convenience store lot and managed to do it again. So I'm home, sober, unwell, lonely, but sober.
I am sorry for your loss Kris. Take care.
So it's 5:45 on a Windy, Windy night in SW Washington, the power is back on and I'm looking forward to another 24.

I've got the TV on, The Concert for Valor,Metallica playing right now. Not my favorite, but hey .... Those guys jumping around on stage loving it!
My Dad, sister, brother, and my now 27 year old niece have all served in the U.S. Army. When Ashley, my niece was sent to Afghanistan in the war zone ( as an MP!) it all became very real to me. I would sincerely like to thank all Veterans here on SR for their service to our country. Bobbi

I'm checking in earlier tonight than I have been since coming back to the rig. I want to say thank you to all the veterans who are serving or who have served in our armed forces.
And I'm so sorry for your loss Kris. You are in my prayers!!!
I'm on Step 9 and made my first 24 amends. I did these via Facebook, because it don't know how else to contact these particular people any other way. I sent them each a true message of heartfelt guilt, admitting my wrong and my intention to set things right. And so far I've received nothing but forgiveness. And on top of that I no longer feel the burden of owing for these sins. I still owe for others however. I've still got plenty of amends to make, but at least my guilt, shame, and remorse load is a little bit lighter!!!
Have a good night everyone!!!

My very first memory is from 1964. It was the day we moved to St. John in the Virgin Islands, and I stuck my finger in a crab hole. The crab pinched me, and it awoke my consciousness.
Glad to be conscious and sober for another day! 6:35 PM in the San Juan Islands.

Had a super-fantastic day off. Hit the gym twice. Enjoying this blustery late Fall day in Portland, OR. Back to work tomorrow. Hangover free and happy as a clam
This calls for twenty-four more at almost 8 PM.
