Today is Memorial Day in the USA.
Today let us take a moment out of the celebrations to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day,
and the sacrifices that our military personnel make for each and every one of us. Not just the U.S.A.
Not all Americans today are celebrating this holiday with excitement. Some folks may not be holding
the yearly cookout.
Some children may be watching a parade unable to hold the hand of their Mother or Father.
Many parents will stand looking at the American Flag with pain and loss in their hearts.
Let us not forget that Freedom is not Free.
That’s what the members of our Armed Forces do for us, they pay the price so that the rest of us
may enjoy life as we know it.
They fight for our freedom, for the freedom of their fellow human beings, and for the freedom granted
to us by the founders of our nation.
Every minute of every day, there is a soldier somewhere far from home, giving all he has to give
without regard for his own life.
There is also a veteran somewhere, standing next to a war memorial thanking a soldier for
sacrificing his life to save his.
And the very many disabled veterans who have lived and may now be suffering PTSD.
How blessed are we to have our Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard who protect our country
and what it stands for.
So very many died defending a way of life that they felt was worth dying for ... for families, children,
freedom, morality, values, and responsibility.
Today we want to say Thank you to our fallen heroes and to those who continue to step up to serve
our Country every minute of everyday.
Plus let us not forget all those who fought so hard on Sept 11th,2001 to save lives and those who lost their
lives doing so.
We appreciate you and honor you on this very special day!

Here for another 24 at 9:39 a.m. on Memorial Day in NYC. Thanks to all on the threads who have served or have loved ones serving in the military, and especially to those who have lost loved ones in service.
Thanks, Deeker, as always for your relevant and thoughtful post. Thanks, too, to venuscat and calico.
Grateful to live in a free nation; indebted to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, to the families who mourn them, and to all who have served.
10:37 a.m. on the East Coast.
Have a great day, all, and go soberly.
