now I want another 24 hrs. of happiness.
Signing in for 24 more, 11:45am on Saturday.
5 months today. Woke up thinking how everything around me is the same and everyone around me sees me the same - same family, same friends, same job, same responsibilities, same life - but at the same time it's so completely different when I live it sober. The only thing that's changed is me. And that's allowed me to see things more clearly, face things I want to hide from, accept things I have no control over. Still alot of changes I need to make and things I need to work on, but feeling like I can do it because I'm sober.

State Of Mind
My peace is contingent on what I think about.
I have physical boundaries and I have mental and spiritual boundaries.
Do I allow them to be violated, sometimes I do.
But when I am able to direct my thoughts away from things that steal
my peace, I have more peace.
Some people have a habit of thinking negative about everything under the sun.
I think it's because they let negativity in, they let it affect them.
For me I have "Set" boundaries. There are certain things I will not watch on TV.
Certain people I will not spend time with. Certain music I will not listen to and
certain places I will not go. Not because I think I am better than anyone, there are
just certain things that do not support my new life in recovery.
I call it staying away from spiritual pollution because I do have a choice. Didn't
think so when I was out there using. Also there are a lot of triggers out there.
I try to spend more time with positive upbeat people, I listen to inspiring music,
I read inspiring pieces and visit inspiring places and learn from inspiring web sites.
I am getting better at deciding what thoughts I am going to allow to swirl
around in my head. Because I enjoy being at peace.
Of course we can not avoid negative people all the time.
I try to be accepting of others, their behaviors, their beliefs etc. It is not always easy.
But I try to remind myself over and over that they have their life and I have mine
and what they do is not my business and even if I have to be in an uncomfortable
situation I remember it's only temporary.
Happiness really is a state of mind, and we really can choose what state that is. We
can decide what we let in.
What state of mind are we going to be in today?

10:09 am and I am in for another sober 24 hours.
I hope everyone has a great sober week end and if you are struggling, reach out for help and don't pick up that first drink no matter what. Waking up clear headed with no hangovers and no guilt is really worth it
