All the best, Gran. I didn't have the guts to leave a bottle half empty. If there was a big bottle or a small bottle it still went the same way the only way I could limit it was buying smaller bottles from the cigarette counter and ignoring the knowing smile from the cashier. If it was there it had to be consumed.
Happy March! Hope everyone is doing well!
Today is my day 13, my favorite number! This month is my birthday month too....and it's a big one for me...EEEEEEK! Can't wait to celebrate quietly and with NO ALCOHOL! Last year, I was in bed all day the day after....
Have a great day ya'll!

Well, friends, I tossed the painkillers. I'm thinking I need to do more physical therapy as a preventive measure. More stretching and deliberate exercise and massage around those injuries. I did notice I was using them more often since I quit drinking in December, so it was time to say goodbye to those things. No more prescriptions. Recovery is physical and psychological, whether the addition is physical and/or psychological. I have work to do on many levels.
Hello Class of March 2014!!!!!!
I'm from the March 2013 class and would like to let you all know you are welcome to stop by and visit with us anytime you wish!
Whether you are just starting this journey or have been struggling please stay with us here on SR. You may not feel like posting everyday, but just checking in and reading can do wonders for you in the early going.
My class has a GREAT group of people, they know me better than most people I know in person and are the biggest support I have found.
It's a rough road ahead, but it's worth it! Not picking up that first drink/drug is a great start, also take the time to work on your inner selves. I am just now starting to work on why I started to drink heavily and learning to fix what I can and accept what I cannot fix. Simply not drinking, for me, is not enough to make me completely happy, but it does make the irritating things less annoying and does completely eliminate some issues.
Don't be afraid to try different approaches, whether its AA, NA, AVRT, SMART or just SR. If it's not working, there's no harm in trying a different path, just keep at it until you find what works for you. There is no absolute correct path except the one that works for YOU.
Good Luck and Stay Strong!
Ken

Hi Marchers
Another member of the March 2013 class just posting a big welcome to the Marchers of 2014. Like Ken said, being part of a class of folks going through the same struggles and providing each other with support has made a huge difference to our recoveries.
Wishing only the best on your journeys.
