I dreamed I'd be a Princess with a Prince upon my side
Instead I'm just a Redneck, finding my own ride
I thought I'd have a carriage, glass slippers too
Instead I'm going to the grocery store, to get a beer for you.

Deeker

Our brave gentle spirit,
A teacher and speaker,
To those still most wracked with sore unrest.
She is really so kind and special
So serene and so modest
She is wise and she is wonderful
So beautiful. With her eyes downcast.

For her apt word can soothe
An aching, injured heart,
One that is lost and breaking apart.
Leads them there, into the fold.
It's accountability
Laid at her feet. She holds it there, scrolled
As they ask for 24 more, please

Elsie's found her smilies, Yay
She has new ways to brighten our day
Her odes will make us jump and jive
Tho smilie limit here is five
I wait to see what comes our way!

Mariah, fairytales don't come true I fear
But finding us will lift your year
Fairy godmothers here are calming
And Carlos is our own Prince Charming
Tell your frog to fetch his own beer!

There was a young woman called Nel
Who thought all our poems were swell
She read them with joy
And decided, oh boy
' I have one inside me to tell!'

NEL that would really be great
rhyming here with our new mate
Sometimes it's with ease
unless we brain freeze
Bring it on , i cant wait ;-)

Sometimes its quite absurd
When elusive is that word
At the end of the line
The one we cant find
Especially to rhyme with ORANGE !

Apparantly it's the only word that cant be rhymed with lol ..

The joy of Miss Tixie
Upon wakening she is there
Puuurrrring so sweet
Perhaps she'll get a treat
She knows she's welcome here.

There was another cat before
I thought he'd live forever
Then one day he stopped eating
To the vet we were retreating
And treated he was to be.

As time went on it was so to be
That the vet did all he could
Then came the day I let him sleep
He knew I loved him before.

No one loved him more
He knew he was adored
But now I can love another too
Miss Tixie, so very welcome are you
But JohnJohn is forever here
His picture by my chair
He's not really gone
In my heart lingers on
And Tixie understands.

You're welcome to us, MariahGayle!
Hope this day finds you hearty and hale.
We're funny and sad,
But always most glad
To read a marvelous new tale.

Ipanema,

I once had a wonderful dog.
He coat was smooth and shiny
He was very big and very brown
He weighed, at least, a hundred pounds.
And Bodie was his name.

I raised him up, from a baby.
Took him off to puppy school
The best one there, is what I'll say
Such a Proud Mama, if I may,
He was the finest dog.

I loved him well. I loved him strong.
And he loved me so, in return
He was loyal. He was funny
And always sweet. The finest Honey!
We had so much fun!

But time went by and took it's toll
White whiskers there, on his face.
It was tired that he grew
Finally the day came and I just knew
And then my poor heart broke.

I took the dear love he gave me
And held it to my heart.
He enriched my life so grandly,
I can't and don't remember him sadly.
I think only of the good.
My Bodie

Thank you Elsewhere for your wonderful story
You speak of your fine dog and give him glory
He knows your love wherever he is
So lucky to have had you as his master
His heart is beating faster, Dear Bodie
As you pen your story and knows
Your love for him continues
In the memory of you both
Playing, running, cuddling up and dreaming
Its often the flashes of love come up as
The memories of Bodie stay in your heart
The days of glory to have had him
That, is essence, is the best part.

My First Horse

Once upon a time, I had not a care,
Had a beautiful and special, high-stepping mare.
"Black Jack's Fancy Goober" was her name
Came out of Missouri, of fox-trotting fame.
"Fancy" she was, a gorgeous blue roan.
Delicate and sweet, and so fine of bone
With two white stockings and a snip on her nose,
A twinkly way of dancing, right on her toes.
We scampered all over and around,
Over hill and dale, the talk of the town.
We tip-toed in parades, roved the river path
She and I, together, we cut quite a swathe.
She's gone now, you see. She lived out her life
I miss her still. Her loss brought great strife.
But she lives on in my memory, a bright shining star
She's there in my mind. I gaze from afar.

Spud his name, my handsome friend
When fist we met, a tiny dot, in my hand he sat
His trust in me would never end
From tiny kit to gorgeous boy, out of his litter box he shat
Bare feet beware in early morn!

How many tales I here could tell
Of how we shared our days
He saw me as young bride trying
Gave comfort as I grew sad and dull
With husband drinking more, and lying

Through tough divorce, and near collapse
My constant friend held close
Jealous of new love
Perfected sulky pose.

But new man learned to feed and clap ( Scottish for petting)
And soon Spud came around
For first time Spud had man friend now
As we travelled north to settle new ground

My boy grew older, but never showed;
His handsome face content
So strong and fit ( big boned, not fat!)
My shock, so suddenly he went
In one short day from well to ill
And sad decision made. I held him, stroked his head so soft
As last breath left. I cried bereft
My loved friend gone

Cats are great! I've had some special ones, too. Thanks for the picture!

I love this thread. So many times things are so serious and deadly earnest here on SR that I so welcome a place to be creative and have fun. The camaraderie is great. I read a lot and post not so much. I find I have a way of looking at things from an emotional space and find if I post from that viewpoint I sometimes get my throat sliced. Which hurts me. No thanks. I believe in compassion. I am a nurse. Anyway, thank you for being here.
