Boundaries-
Happiness is a choice that requires effort at times. I am like
a piece in a chess game.
I have to make the right moves in order to not be put in check
mate and that means setting boundaries.
Sometimes we have to learn to release anyone and anything that
doesn't support our recovery and our happiness.
Our sobriety, our recovery has to be number #1.
Sometimes we have to let go of what is bringing us down, and
surround ourselves with what brings out the best in us .
I used to think I didn't have choices of who and what I was to be around.
I often hung around people whom I only had my drugs and alcohol in common with
and nothing else and who quite frankly were not very good people, I did not think
I deserved any better.
The further down the scale I went the lower the companions I sought
out.
But as I got clean and sober I realized what and who I wanted to
be around and what I didn't feel comfortable around.
I began having serious convictions about what was important to me.
Today it's ok to say NO. Today it is about my recovery and having peace and serenity.
Are we allowing anyone to cross our boundaries today?
Today we have choices.
