What am I thankful for today?

That I'm not hungover here at the office as I was last year on the day-after Thanksgiving. And my team knew it...never never again.

So much nicer this way.

Just popping in to say hello to everyone! I hope all is well with each of you.

Things are great in this sober world. My mind seems to be getting sharper everyday....kinda weird...

So who here went Black Friday shopping?? lol

The following statement is not a reflection of my financial status, but I will pay $100 more for something and get it during normal hours without a crowd of people......just sayin'.

It's just crazy how people behave sometimes. At a Target store somewhere, a man collapsed on the floor and people walked over him to shop. He later died in the hospital. I pray that I would act differently in the same situation, but who knows? These people probably aren't monsters, you know? It's scary to think that anyone could act that way. Ick. What makes that happen, I wonder? Is it REALLY the sales???

I try and put a good spin on it and say maybe it's fear GFCO...but I dunno...I'm even losing myself on that argument.

Bah, you would not walk past someone if you knew he was having a heart attack, GFCO. I don't believe that for a second.

Sounds like those were very crowded, chaotic situations. Many folks may have been unsure of what was happening, or oblivious altogether. Then again, I don't understand the mentality of anyone who goes shopping at midnight....

I don't know though! See, I find this so so fascinating even though it's a bit dark -the bystander effect. I've read a little about it and so many people do it in these situations, and other horrible ones that you hear about and go "Oh my goodness, I would never do that!" (That coach in PA that just got fired, for example) but yet in research that's what everyone does! People just walk away and ignore the problem.

I've read that if you are in trouble in a public place, don't scream for help or say call the police, or the usual stuff you would think to say because everyone will just look around and expect someone else to take care of it. Pick one person from the crowd and make them personally responsible for you. Say "You there in the red shirt and purple pants, help me, I need you to call an ambulance/police/my Mom/whatever." You have a much better chance of getting help if you single someone out.

So interesting!

You have an even better chance if you pick someone other than the guy wearing a red shirt and purple pants.

I can't handle Walmart at all.
Maybe it's cuz I'm a man, but as soon as I enter the store my stress level flies right off the charts.
When I used to take Mrs. Hooped there (she loves it), I would wait out in the parking lot in the car drinking a beer and listening to music.
There were plenty of people walking by with red shirts and purple pants on too.

4 months today!
Life is good.
Although living alone has it's lonely moments, I'm grateful to be sober and healthy again and it's up to me to make every day count.

Take care folks!

Just finished watching the remake of "Lion in Winter" with Patrick Stewart and Glenn Close. Just a ridiculously good movie. And it's on Netflix instant play.... just sayin.

Hope you all have a good week!

Hi all. Yeah the cold is here for the long haul I guess...........

Everyone ready for Christmas? It's this time of year I would normally get kind of depressed.....losses of loved ones, sad music, that kind of thing.....this year I feel different and I attribute that to not drinking. I suppose I used to douse my happy character with large amounts of alcohol, which of course is a depressant. Gee, wonder why it made me blue.................. DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

This year is good and I hope all of you have a peaceful, content and happy holiday season.
