Binaural Beats
I know this may seem like hippie nonsense, but it actually worked for me, so I give it my blessing and I will pass it on.
The history of Binaural Beats is a little complicated, you can Wikipedia it or something for full info, but it's essentially two tones, one played in each ear (you pretty much MUST use headphones) and each tone is just slightly different. The resulting difference creates a bit of confusion in your brain.
It's like when 2 people try to sing the same note, but one is a just a tiny bit off, and there is that strange wobbling sound.
Listen to one of these with headphones while lying in bed and see if it helps. Play at low volume. You can either try to fall asleep with your headphones ON, or listen for a half hour or so, then try to sleep. When I had my vicious post-withdrawal insomnia, this actually made me fall asleep.
"Deep Sleep" - Isochronic Binaural Beats - YouTube
Sleep II (One Hour Binaural & Isochronic beats for sleep 3.4Hz Delta range & OM) - YouTube
8 Hr "Full Night Sleep" Binaural Beat - YouTube
Sleep II + WIND & RAIN (One Hour Binaural & Isochronic beats for sleep 3.4Hz Delta range & OM) - YouTube

This is not the same as binaural beats but similar: EMDR therapy. It's used to get over traumas and it's expanding into other areas as well.
I've had it and it works like a charm. Traumas gone. Permanently.
If your drinking is based on a traumatic experience, I would recommend it. Or at least look if it has expanded into alcoholism.
This is an official therapy carried out by licensed professionals in the field of psychiatry. It has been scientifically tested and proven. And for me it worked.
It is relatively new and it's still expanding. At first it was primarily based on treating PTSD but I think it has expanded now into other areas as well.
It only takes a few sessions and gets great results.
Ask your doc about it. Maybe it will help with alcoholism as well. Especially if the alcoholism is based on an unresolved trauma.

Sort of frustrating to be revisiting my old posts 2 years later, but I'm really happy to see some recent interest. I listened to these last night, and they still help
Glad people enjoyed them, and thanks for the other suggestions

This site has a great variety of relaxing sound generators, including binaural beats:

I can't sleep without the steady whoosh/throb from my dehumidifier and its fan.
A couple of years back, I discovered the ASMR videos on Youtube too - many of which feature binaural beats. Got really into it and could knock myself out with them very reliably. Then after a few months it just stopped , I couldn't get "the tingle" any more. Gave it a break but still not really happening for me like it used to. Feel like writing into one of those problem pages in women's magasines, "help i just can't tingle any more..."

The sound seems to make me hyperaware and feel anxious. I've done better with guided meditations putting me out. In fact my family teases me that when I meditate, what I really mean is I am going to take a nap!
