Kindness is like snow; it beautifies
everything it covers.

Dear Lord, please be with me this morning as I
can't eat or drink anything, but water before my
9am doctors appointment. No hot cup of coffee
or bowl of oatmeal to fill my hungry tummy.

I understand that I have to follow instructions in
order to do my blood test. Which is why I asked
for an early appointment.

I ask in prayer that you keep me calm because
You know I'm not a fan of doctors but understand
the necessity of having a general phyician for just
such emergencies down the road.

I am grateful and blessed that You are continuing
to keep me healthy, sober and strong at my age with
no doctors for long periods of time.

Thank You God, amen.

Thank you for the new TYG thread, Dee!

I'm sure you're hair looks positively "silver" Alpine! Which reminds me I need a buzz cut, that'll reveal all my grey

Thank you God for every day you make all things new, the worries of the nighttime have passed and fade away, a beautiful day is revealed.

No matter how stressed you are,
remember how blessed you are.

Thank you Alpine for your kindness.

I'm also happy to hear that your hair is growing
and a lovely shade is immerging. Incorporating
different types of protein to your meals like meats,
fish, etc will help nails and hair grow stronger and
somewhat quickly. Collagen also helps too.

I usually research lists of foods or supplements
that I can add to my daily meals to help strength
my hair, nails, bones as I get older. Veggies, chicken,
cottage cheese, eggs, nuts, peanut butter, for just
a few examples.

Thank You God for helping me get through which
seemed like a long morning, fasting till my 9am appointment.
I went in with some bit of worry, but turned out to
be an awesome visit with my new doctor.

After getting weighed in, vitals and general questions
the doctor walked in and immediately her smile, kindness
and delightful demeanor melted all my worries away.

And....she and I bear the same last name, wondering
if we were related. Of course we weren't but is still cool.

While waiting to do my blood test, a lovely kind lady
sat beside me who began talking about the weather
and her move from the coldness in New York to reside
here in Baton Rouge. She continued on to share about
the people here in Baton Rouge being so different and so
kind. Unlike other places she had been before.

Immediately and even for just a few minutes while
we sat chatting there was a friendly bond that made
my appointment sucessful.

A little kindness goes a long way. Right?

With a healthy heart, mind and body at my age as the
doctor reported, I am forever grateful and blessed.

For this gift, Thank You God.

Sharon, happy to hear your appointment went well. And thnk you for your insight with nutrition. I tend to be a big researcher on things like that too. I enjoy it.

Thank you God that the pain in my foot seems to be going away a bit..It is still there, but not nearly as bad..now just on to the leg pain
Thank you God for connections I have made here..It has been beyond helpful
Thank you God that I will be heading to the dentist today..a new one for me and have not been in quite some time due to chemo..quite nervous about it but I know I will get through it.

Alpine, prayers that your dentist appointment goes well, and sharon I'm glad to hear your visit to the doctor was a pleasant one too. I actually love seeing my physician, she's wonderful and asks lots of questions, I feel like she pays good attention to my health.

Thank you God for the many ways that are presented to me each day to worship you and be in prayer. Lectio 365 app, here on SR, emails from my Bible study brothers, text reminders, so many ways to get me away from my worldly distractions and focused more on Your presence, for these I am most thankful.

Thank you guys and hope your dentist appointment went well
and all your teeth are sparkly clean after your visit.

Was preoccupied yesterday after getting the results of my
blood test. All was good with the exception of a slightly elevated.
thyroid.

I had to do some research on thyroid and had though all along that
the thyroid was located in the thigh/leg area. Boy, was I way off. It is
located in the back of the neck and looks like a butterfly shape. Okay,
I did not know that, but do love butterflies.

Thank You God for all the information available to help us learn
about our bodies. You gave me this one temple and I aim to kept
it as healthy as I possibly can with Your help and guidance.

I had to learn how addiction and substance abuse was destroying
my heart, mind and body back in the day and am extremely grateful
for all those who taught me how to get healthy today with all the knowledge
and tools available.

I do ask in prayer that You help me figure out the right suppliment
to incorporate in my daily routine without the use of a prescribed
medicine. Amen.

Thank You God for all our physicians, whether they be dentists, surgeons,
primary care, phycologist, therapists, all who are available to put us back
together, making us healthy and whole to live a better quality of life in recovery.

That is good news to hear Alpine about your dentist appointment.

The only biopsy I experienced was one from years ago when
I broke out in a rash and couldnt find out what was causing it.
So a biopsy was done, with them taking a cutting of skin to run
tests. Ointment was provided with outbreaks to still pop up yrs
later. Then, it just stopped and havent had anymore episodes.

Thank God for that because the itching was unbearable at that
time, esp. when I was pregnant with 1st child.

A scare still remains as a reminder of that experience.

I'm glad the dental results were good too, Alpine. That's worthy of praise!

sharon, my wife has had Hashimoto's for many years, she's no stranger to thyroid issues. I'm sure you'll figure out the best plan of action to take.

Speaking of our medical professionals......

God, you know how much we despise cancer, how evil that disease is. I don't know how I could say I'm thankful for GammaTiles and radiation seeds to treat my brother's brain tumors, but I am. God I thank you for these developments for the treatment of brain tumors, and I thank you for the skilled professionals who created them and will use them when his treatment is scheduled. God I also am thankful that his other 5 radiation treatments were cancelled because his oncologist was concerned that the "splash" from those radiation bursts might've affected the surrounding nerves. I am also praying God that this procedure will go flawlessly, that his health will improve, and that overall his life will be better and extended. He will get through this with your help Lord, we all will.

To make a difference in someone's life, you don't
have to be brilliant, rich, beautiful or perfect. You
just have to care.

It is so comforting to know that other folks have experienced
what we are going through. It is comforting to know others
generally care about the well being of others.

Thank You God for our fellow members that we are traveling
this road of recovery with. For their kindness, understanding,
support, fellowship, consideration, prayers, etc.

Continue to bless, protect, guide, love, forgive, heal each
of us and our loved ones traveling this road to get to You. Amen.

Well sharon, that looks like a list of foods I'd be delighted to eat! I love sautéing those cruciferous veggies.

Thank you God for giving me extra patience when I have no business being impatient at all.
Thank you God for the time with my brother yesterday, running errands that were important to him, and taking his dogs for a few walks. This time together is priceless when I look back on how quickly our lives have passed by.
Thank you God for my wife and stepdaughter's safety on their weekend trip to Seattle, I'm so thankful they're visiting a former stepdaughter/sister to meet her new baby!

Praying for good health, safe travels and the willingness
to continue to learn new things.

When I am alone, God is my comforter. When I am weak,
God is my strength. When I am nothing, God is my everything.
Amen.

This week we have a few low tempts as we continue to
prepare, protect pipes and garden. Got potted plants in
greenhouses and will blanket today with a few showers
later on. We are grateful that these low tempts don't linger
around long this far south for us.

With Winter here is still doesn't keep me from visiting
my local nursery to see how they prepare for freezing
tempts and learn a few techniques from them and grab
a new plant along the way.

I'm absolutely love all the ornamental grasses that flow
in the breezes, esp. when I see them on golf course on TV.

At the nursery, there is a whole section with just that kind
of grass and walking the long isles to reach them and see
them blowing and swaying in the wind or breeze is lovely.

I set mine in tall planters to contain them and place them
in and around the yard for added interests.

Gardening for life. Sobriety for life. Faith for life. Amen.

Alpine, I actually think this is God's way of keeping me focused on my brother, we've never been all that close and we're both grateful for this time together, and it's also a distraction from the emotional pain I'm feeling from my daughter being so distant. I also have a younger brother in GA that I don't hear much from, we have a good relationship but he's still active in his addiction, to the point of walking away from his marriage. I think it's important to maintain family ties, but I know I can't control it and just do the best I can.

God, today I lift up my fishing buddy Dave to you for a successful spinal surgery. We started fishing together during Covid and all along he's never been able to walk without pain. His desire is to be mobile enough to get into the fishing and hunting areas he loves. Lord I pray and know that You will be guiding the surgeons hands today, thank you God for their skills and technology.

Dear God, I come here to cast all my fears,
doubts and worries and by Faith I leave it here
with You. I pray Your will over mine. Your plans
over mine. Your thoughts over mine. I'm resting
in your perfect time and peace. Do Your goodness,
love, favor, grace and mercies over my life. In
Jesus name. Amen.

Thank You God for helping me, protecting me while
covering my backyard all day before freezing temperatures,
possible rain and snow. Forgive me for all my worries
as I had to remind myself often, "why waste a minute
of worry when I have you covered" When I will take
care of you"

I know I have to do the footwork before placing the rest
in Your hands. And that is what I stive to do each day.

Things are not gonna work out by themselves, so It is my
responsibility to do all that I humanly can, then in prayer
and faith leave the rest for You. And, without a doubt, there
You are taking care of me as many times don't feel deserving
of Your help.

Thank You God for not leaving me, deserting me. For
Your unconditional love as I continue to depend on You
in all areas of my life. Amen.

Keep Astro and Alpine in Your loving care, watching over
them with each step they take each day.
