Morning Gratitude ~ Part 58
Good morning everyone. I am grateful for another day and the opportunities it brings. On this day six years ago I woke up in a rehab facility that I had checked myself into three days earlier. I had no idea what was in store for me, my brain felt like it had been scrambled, I was surrounded by strangers, and I was certain that I had irretrievably altered the trajectory of my life for the worse from my drinking. Through the guidance of my counselor Sam Orr and hundreds of others since, I have learned to live one day at a time and to depend on others when I need it most. My life is not perfect, but it's a far cry from what it was... I am now married, have a job that challenges me, more friends than I can count, and most days I am content.
To those who are new or struggling in this journey, please don't give up before the miracle happens. Ours is a fatal disease, therefore we occasionally have to work like our lives depend on it. Most days, however, demand only that we remain mindful and grateful of our disease and our flaws. They only define us and our future when we choose to act as though they don't exist.

Wonderful message, Eddiebuckle. Thank you for sharing with us.
Grateful to have today off to bake and get ready for the upcoming festivities!
Grateful for family to spend time with over the holidays.
Grateful to reflect on the year gone by and to be thankful for what I have learned, for my blessings, and also that I can forgive myself and others while looking to tomorrow with hope instead of despair.
Grateful for the SR community, for what is shared, for the understanding and kindness, and most especially grateful for the grat forum. Sincere wishes for strength, hope and peace to all, now and in the year to come.

- Grateful that all my kids, grandchild, hubby, pets, and myself were under the same roof laughing and truly enjoying the moment.
- Grateful we are spending the holidays together.
- Grateful to be going to my parents today for lunch.
- Grateful to get up early to get some work done while the house is quite.
- Grateful for all of you.

Grateful I made myself go out last evening on my 1st winter hike in the city! Although very cold out (-15C), I dressed warmly, saw some amazing sights like the ice maze being built in our river valley park & some beautiful Christmas lights when we hiked up to a special neighborhood known for their light displays. It was so peaceful out there; the moon & the glistening white snow lit up the trails. This will be a highlight of the holiday season for sure!
Grateful for all the families I saw taking in the light displays, the horse drawn sleigh rides, volunteers giving out hot apple cider, donation boxes along the route for our local food bank. So nice to see all of this after a very violent week in the city with a couple of convenience store murders taking place on the same night. Almost made me afraid to go out on our streets after dark.
Grateful to spend some time at a nearby animal shelter yesterday. Animals are so healing!
