Attitude of Gratitude
I am thankful that I don't feel the need to drink or drug tonight. I am grateful that my children don't have to turn their head the other way when I kiss them goodnight because they can't stand the smell of alcohol on my breath. I am ever so grateful that I can start my day over at any given moment by letting go and letting God.
My first Sponsor suggested, rather strongly I might add, that I begin keeping a Gratitude Journal.
My first days keeping my journal were of things that were obvious, being clean and sober, having a roof over my head, food on the table . . .
Now, I find gratitude in anything and everything.
When I was using, I hated to be woke up by the noise of the birds in the morning. It meant I had to face yet another day miserable. Now, when I hear their wake up songs, I celebrate the beginning of another day happy, joyous and free!
