I'm just numb today...

In addition to the concerns for all my senior dogs, including Miss Raven, who has had several good days, I had to call the vet this morning and my daughter took our wire haired terrier mix in.

It looks like cancer. She's got an incredibly nasty growth in her throat. She'll have to be sedated for a biopsy, labwork will be done, and xrays taken.

I'm too tired to even cry, seriously.

Xrays showed what look like several small metastasized spots in the lungs. As sick as she is, I'm not going to put her through waiting on a biopsy. Lab work still hasn't been done.

I've got 3 chapters to slog through in pathophysiology (how ironic is that) for a test, so I'm putting on a pot of coffee and will try to get my head into that.

(((DeVon))) -awwww, sweetie, I'm so sorry. Our furbabies are such an important part of our lives. Mine are what keep me sane (or as close to it as possible).

My heart hurts for you, and I'm sending you lots and lots of hugs and prayers.

I made the decision to let her go. There was nothing else we could do, and she was in pain. My heart hurts beyond description.

I'm so sorry, sweetie. Let yourself grieve. The heck with the pathophysiology stuff, right now. Do what you need to do for you.

Hugs and prayers!

I'm so sorry. I know that's a horrible decision to have to make, but you are unselfish in doing so. She was in pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you. My heart hurts for your pain.

Oh honey my heart goes out to you. As hard as it is you did the right thing. Your precious fur baby isn't in pain anymore.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

There aren't enough words to describe the love and friendship of a pet, equally there are never enough words to express the loss.

My sympathies are yours. Please be good to yourself today.

Aww Dev, I feel for you hon. I know how hard it is to loose a pet. When I lost my last cat it took weeks before I could walk around and not hear or hope she was still here. It takes a while but you stopped the pain and now your baby is in Doggie heaven looking down on you. Try to stay focused on your studies and with time you'll heal. Big hugs, Bonnie

I'm so sorry. What a gift to let her go so she is no longer in pain, but that doesn't make the heartache any easier.

Lots of hugs to you!
