hi,
According to the directions it will tell you when you clip the hair sample you will clip to a certain length and that (the length) will determine how far back it goes. I purchased one from Amazon.com called hair confirm. It was easy to use and very reliable. They have a toll free number within the kit to call and if memory serves me correctly they also have a website........perhaps Hair Confirm | Hair Follicle Drug Testing Kit .I hope this helps you.........dixied
