As noted the battle is not yours to fight.

For decades I've watched or had to deal with alcoholics, drug addicts etc and one of the common things I've also noticed in long term addicts is enabling. Friends, family , co workers. The addict/alkie must be allowed to hit bottom. Hit a bottom without a cushion. Yes maybe grab their car keys if they staggering towards their car but other than immediate not potential danger enabling only prolongs the inevitable.

It's not just about money. If someone needs so much attention perhaps they need to be in a supervised environment like rehab.

Also addicts, alcoholics become used to things like getting free rides or someone literally cleaning up the mess. They knowingly abuse those courtesies. It's not all chemicals including alcohol talking it's the thoughts and emotions already in their head. The substance enables them to act on those thoughts..

Until the alcoholic or addict wants to sober up on their own for themselves they won't. They need incentive like hitting a hard bottom or having a hard life.

Don't let family prejudice practical judgement

Good Luck
