The Gratitude List - Come On there Must Be Something.....

I'm feeling grateful today...no particular reason, but thought I'd start a thread and see how many things we can think of to be grateful for.

I am grateful for the experiences, as bad as they may have been, that brought me to recovery and this board.

I am grateful to live in a country where I can make free choices to live my life in a way that suits me best.

I am grateful that it is so dang hot and humid today, that I will not be doing any strenuous work tonight, but I may enjoy a nice bowl of "Chunky Monkey" ice cream.

I am grateful that during the garbage strike in Toronto (phewwie!!) I have a friend who called to say her husband would pick up my garbage and take it to the dump with theirs tomorrow.

I am grateful for Bob, without whom my angel might not have bunny slippers.

I am grateful that my cat prefers my back deck instead of my lap tonight, so I can stay cool.

Who's next?

Nice idea!

I joined a golf league for the first time this year and I felt grateful to be out there in the sun this afernoon sweating and coming home to the shower. And I have even taken a few strokes off of my game.

I am grateful for my home and my extended family...they are large and loud.

I am grateful for the job and the coworkers that I have today...I have made a few changes in the interest of serenity and it has all worked out. So my last working years will be my happiest.

And I am even grateful for the hard times that have made me strong and have brought me to the rooms of Al Anon and the 12 steps and to God.

I am grateful for my age...there is a certain peace and I hope wisdom...with more to come, God willing.

And I am grateful for my wonderful Grandson...he is the light of my life. His smiles warm my heart.

Welcome back Ann!

Hi JT

I am grateful for my age too, sounds strange doesn't it? What are we anyway...about 39?. I do believe that your birthday is coming up soon. Do Tell the date.

And are we the only ones here who are grateful???? I mean if WE are grateful JT, surely half the world must be grateful.

Well I'm grateful that I am grateful...it feels good.

No it doesn't sound strange...would you rather be 39 or 19?? Oh my goodness..what is not to be grateful for?

I am grateful for my health...at MY age! Except for the hot flashes I am the picture of health!

And yes I am grateful for Ward...his antics can be annoying...but he is slowly evolving with age and I wouldn't want to miss the good stuff! (Whew...after all I have been through...)

Allrighty then,

I am grateful that two young boys came
by today with their lawnmower looking
for work in this 100 degree+weather.
You should have seen their faces when
I said GO FOR IT! They were so happy
and grateful.
I am grateful that I love my job, and
we are a big extended family.
I am grateful that my son is not in
serious trouble even though he is in
jail.
I am grateful for my beautiful grand-
children.
I am grateful that I had the sense to
buy a air conditioner for my room, and
can now hide in here from the horrible
heat, and have everything I need right
here. Yep, it's the hormones.
I am grateful that I knew to go to a
beauty supply shop, to fix this crazy
color I put on my hair today-good grief!
I am grateful that I don't just lay down
and pull the covers over my head.
I am grateful that my car hasn't broke
down in two weeks.
I am grateful to my HP, who is watching
over me.
I am grateful for this website, and all
who share and let me vent!

Hugs,

Wow, I am grateful for many things.

I am grateful for my family and friends. They have been so supportive thru my troubled times.

I am grateful that I have a job even though I might not like it all the time, I love the people I work with.

I am grateful that I found the soberrecovery forums and all of you. You are all the most special people.

I am grateful that I am learning to take care of me and focus on my recovery.

I could go on but those are at the top of my list right now

Many hugs.
Love,
Debbie

PS The other thing I am grateful for is that when the air conditioning broke in my car it was covered by the extended warranty I bought 5 years ago!!

My turn-

I am grateful that we have such wonderful webmasters who set up this site and just walked me thru getting back to posting.

I am grateful for all the ears, shoulders, skillets, etc. that I find here.

I am grateful for being able to go home at night to an air conditioned house full of love (kids and dog and cat).

And I am grateful to my HP for giving me the wisdom to know what I can and can not change and standing by me through all of this craziness.

Yeahhhh!!

I'm grateful that my brother lives north of Toronto so I can visit him and take him my garbage until the strike is over Phewww.

I'm grateful that my "recovery" garden is in full bloom and smells wonderful (especially after smelling all that garbage.)

I'm grateful that I can afford to eat and create garbage.

I'm grateful that my neighbours take turns going to the dump, and include me when I am home to give them my garbage too.

This is my "grateful" garbage post. LOL

I am grateful for:

- the fact that my fridge is full of food
- that I have my health
- that I discovered acting and started a beginners class last Monday
- I am grateful for A.A. and this board. I have only gone to one Alanon meeting and that was several months ago. I am planning to go to one on Sunday night.
- for the person reading this, thank you for listening to me

Humbly yours, Lynda

Hi Action Girl

We really do have a lot to be grateful for, even in our bad moments, and I know it helps me to make a conscious effort to "let gratitude be my attitude".

I always thought codependents would make Oscar winning actors. When you think of the drama in our lives and the performances we have already participated in, and the comedy on this board (especially Friday nights), well bring on the nominations!! I hope your classes go well and are fun for you.

Good for you for finding a meeting. I know that I sometimes cannot get to mine, and if I miss for too long I notice the difference in me. I am one of those people who pas to keep the batteries charged or I fade and weaken.

It's great to be grateful.
