Questions
My loved one is in recovery now. My first visit was difficult and the doctor said he is suffering from wet brain. What questions do I need to ask the doctor? Everything I read seems so doom and gloom.

Hello, and welcome!
I'm sorry for what brings you here. Loving an alcoholic is often traumatic, as their disease is confounding, confusing and chronic.
I would ask the doctor if he or she has experience with addiction recovery. If not, ask for a referral. This is for the family as much as it is the patient. Many doctors are used to treating only the physical symptoms that are currently showing in the alcoholic.
Alcoholism is a family disease that effects all who are near it. We have been traumatized, often without knowing it. Recovery includes having a strong, knowledgeable support network from those who've been there and made it through. It's very difficult to recognize when we're dealing with the manipulations and symptoms of the disease of alcoholism.
