A Prayer to Replace Unpleasant Memories
Hello All! Its been awhile since I checked in, so I thought instead of an update I would share a little something. This is a card I have in front of me on my computer at all times. It is one of them little cards you buy to carry with you. I hope this reaches all who need it. It says:
Dear God,
Sometimes bitter memories
paralyze me
I get so focused on those unpleasant moments in my life
that moving forward seems impossible.
Help me to leave behind these negative images.
Please give me your love and strength
to change those memories
from bitter and resented times
to simply a moment from the past.
Please help me to to focus forward.
Let me realize that the delightful memories of today and tomorrow
will bless me with peace of mind.
Amen.
May you all have peace of mind, JUST FOR TODAY and HOPE for TOMORROW.

You have no idea what your post has done for me today!!!!!!!
Though it's not related to my AH, I have this very problem with a friend that wounded me deeply. I just cannot seem to get past it and it causes our relationship to go through many ups and downs - not unlike a relationship with an A, as there are triggers that remind me of the incident.
I have been struggling very badly with this. Last night my friend and I got into a horrible arguement where we both ended up feeling horrible and both of us ended up crying. Me because I'm still so hurt - them for how guilty they still feel.
I'm going to print your post of that card and keep it with me to remind myself (and hopefully somehow move forward).
If I didn't know better - I would have thought you posted this especially for me!

To bjmt, college is going good, midterms approaching, so sorry havent been on much, but college is keeping me on my toes.
It was upon my heart to share this poem, and to StandingStrong, maybe it was meant for your eyes as it was for all those who come here to SR. I have it here at the base of my monitor to remind me to push forward. Blessings to you all as you all push forward as well. KEEP IT SIMPLE JUST FOR TODAY!

Hi All! I am so happy this post has helped so many, as it has helped me in so many ways. I am so glad to be on my own, and very happy now. I only wanted to give something back to you all for being there for me through some of the toughest times I had to deal with. Love you all!
On a different note,The poem I wrote on here, Grateful not to be Hateful, is going to be published! Isnt that awesome? I received a letter from the publisher telling me that it will be published in an anthology. Funny how things change, ONE DAY AT A TIME, when we KEEP IT SIMPLE!
